"Table 11 looks hungry." Noticed Lara, my manager.
"Got it." I volunteered
I threw my apron on over my waist, my long thick braid bouncing as I walked. Table 11 was alone, and was undeniably a bachelor. I swallowed and shoved my black glasses back up to their proper position.
"Audrey, come on, you deal with these people everyday." I told myself as I reached his table.
"Welcome to Kings, I'm..."
"Audrey Culling."
I stepped back an inch, throughouly creeped.
"How'd you..."
"Doesn't matter, may I have a drink please?"
"Of course."
"Coke, extra ice. Please." A sly smile appeared across his face
I left the table and scurried back to the kitchen.
"Lara, he knows who I am."
"Do you know who he is."
"I've never seen him before."
"Maybe he's seen you before..."
I filled up his drink order and said a quick prayer.
Returning to his table, I dropped off his Coke and tried to leave but he stopped me.
"You know, people come to Kings to eat, right."
"Yes, would you like something."
"Burger, medium well with all of the fixings, and lobster potatoes. Please."
That smile appeared again.
"Do you want something." I asked as I wrote down his order.
"I always want something, don't you?"
I swallowed, my stomach dropping.
Who the hell was this guy? I left the table, giving the order to the kitchen. I tried to think of things to busy my time with, as it was later and we never got anyone from 12 to 2 AM, after 2 all the hungry drunkards and showgirls came in for a bite. This was Las Vegas. His order was ready all too soon.
"Your order.' I said, clutching the plate.
"May I have it?"
I set the plate down and attempted to walk away.
"Audrey... Please"
"Yes?"
"Would you sit with me for a hot second?"
I sat down cautiously, withholding the creeper scream I held inside.
"Well I guess I should introduce myself, my name is Will Braxton. I'm from NYC and I'm here for business. Business I know you know about."
My stomach dropped again.
"Do you have any knowledge of the Underbelly?"
I felt nauseous....
