Camping was Maggie's least favourite childhood memory. Well, her least favourite memory from before being outed, that is. But now, running around in the woods, chasing her girlfriend with a stick, she felt this sense of happiness, of safety.
"Alex! You better watch out," she taunted, waving the stick in the air as she ran as fast as she could. Maggie could run fast, but Alex could run faster. Why they were chasing each other with sticks was something no one knew, but no one cared to ask, either.
Alex got back to their tent, which was deemed a 'safe ground', and stuck her tongue out with a triumphant look on her face. "I won!"
Maggie shrugged and sighed. "I guess... now come over here. Let's hug it out."
As her girlfriend was finally within poking distance, Maggie stuck her stick in the air and softly jabbed Alex in the arm. "In your face, Danvers."
"I hate you," Alex chuckled, though she really didn't mean it. In fact, she meant the opposite and Maggie knew it.
Maggie yawned. "That was tiring. Wanna cuddle and look at the stars?" When Alex groaned and shook her head, Maggie was confused. "What? Why not?"
Alex's eyes widened as she shook her head again, but faster this time. "Oh, I wasn't saying no, I was just thinking about how much you sound like Kara. She loves stars and planets and all that stuff."
"She's an alien. Literally. What was it like growing up with an alien in your house?"
Alex paused, thinking about how to answer. "Chaotic. She was loud, messy and totally oblivious. Not to mention the fact that she couldn't even speak our language."
"Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Sometimes I wish I'd grown up with an alien." When she sees Alex's inquisitive look, she continues. "What? It'd be so much fun."
"It wasn't at first. But then, as we got used to each other, it was great."
"Aw! You love her!"
"Shut it, Sawyer."
"Shut it, Danvers."
"Whatever."
"Whatever."
"Ugh, you're such a child."
"Ugh, you're such a child."
"Fuck you."
"You will? Great!"
Alex just glared at Maggie.
