"Roles Switched"

VI.

"Wataru-chan, please don't cry!" A girl, slightly tall for her age, was hushing her crying friend.

"It huurrtts! My wound huuurtttss!" The boy named 'Wataru' pointed at his bruise.

"Masaomi-nii-san can treat it when we go home, so smile for me?" Her attempts on making him happy again didn't work so she sighed and glared at the bullies behind them.

"You people..." She cracked her knuckles as if she was preparing for a fight-no wait, she is. "..dared to make Wataru-chan cry?"

The bullies were overwhelmed by her sudden cry that they didn't notice that they were sprawled on the ground, full of punch marks. "Humph. This will teach you guys a lesson." She dusted her palms with each other and turned back to the astonished boy who was crying back then. "How was it? Was (Y/n)-nee-chan cool?" She proudly huffed as she continuously tapped her chest.

"Eh? I thought guys do the punching.. (Y/n)-nee-chan, are you really a girl?" Wataru innocently touched her bosom, that will soon develop, with curiosity. "Maybe you aren't yet.." He quickly retrieves his hand and pondered.

While he was having a deep thought, this girl called "(Y/n)-nee-chan", stood at her original position, shocked. More like, she had realized that was denied by reality.

"W-W-Wataru! You simply don't touch t-these!" The girl ranted but it seems that she couldn't get his attention. She shook her head out of embarrassment. "Let's just..go to Masaomi-nii-san for your treatment." She grabbed the innocent kid with her.

-----

Time passes by as you grow with him. Your house was just few blocks away and being the protector of the kid, you came to his house almost everyday. He got too annoyed with that simple reason so he decided to learn karate.

He wasn't that great at first but he was learning and growing. This kind of change felt refreshing for you, knowing that he was a crybaby before then.

On the process you brought something when you were coming over, a soccer ball. He didn't really take notice it at first, but when you were playing outside with other children, he had the urge to play. You really can't say no because he was too stubborn to take that as an answer.

This might be late but you were two years older than him but even so, you two are relatively close. Both of you never lost contact with each other. With your daily "good morning's" and "good night's" with him t'was impossible for you not to develop feelings. But you suppressed it, for you might be a hindrance to his studies.

Wataru is a bright kid with a bright future and heck-even his school is named with bright. Someone just put the sun beside him and he's complete..no wait, he is the sun.. *facepalm*.

Okay, back to our story.. Yes you had brains but you didn't apply for this school. Somehow your parents just decided you to go in a different place. Can't they just make one decision on where you should be.

You tied your hair into a messy bun with a melon bread held captive by your mouth. You passed some stores that were selling food by the sidewalk.

You remembered that you should pick-up Wataru at his school, so you changed your direction to the opposite side of your home.

You loved having this kind of responsibility, after all being together with him has the best kind of feeling.

"Bright Centrair, huh? They say this place are full of smart kids. No wonder Wataru-chan's in it." You leaned on school's wall by the entrance, waiting for your childhood friend.
