A New Hope?

"Yes Master Yoda, I am nearing Tantive III now. Stand by, I am docking."

"Much to discuss, we have," replied Master.

"Yes Master." I land on board and walk down the passage into the conference room. I feel sadness at the sight of only two other people here. Usually the table is full, but since the Sith wiped off the Jedi it has been much more quiet. I sit next to Yoda and Bail Organa who have been waiting patiently for me. I ask, "what news do you have for me Master?"

He looks at me with disappointed eyes and says, "into exile, I must go. Failed I have." He looks away from me and then comes back to face me. I have a confused expression on my face, and I know Master can tell because he continues, "Darth Sidious, I couldn't kill. Bring balance to the force, you must." He nods his head. I nod back to him but I still have much to ask.

I ask him, "but why me? Why can't you help me Master?"

Master Yoda says, "successful in your mission, you were. A failure in my mission, I was. Useless, I have become."

I look at him like he's crazy, hoping that he changes his mind. But he doesn't. I say to him, "fine, if you won't change your mind I know there's no convincing you Master. You will go into exile then, but tell me, how am I supposed to bring balance to the force if the Sith are growing stronger and the Jedi become weaker without you? I have felt a disturbance in the force that the Sith are building a super weapon that can destroy entire planets. What am I to do against that?"

Master Yoda thinks for a bit and says, "the disturbance, I have felt. Kyber crystals, you must protect."

"But why those Master? Why are kyber crystals important?"

"At the heart of the weapon, a kyber crystal sits."

"How do you know this master? Is there something you're not telling me?"

Master Yoda looks away from me and then back saying, "built your lightsaber, I did. In the heart of it, a kyber crystal lies. In great power, kyber crystals are found. Understand, do you?"

I nod my head in agreement. But I still have so many questions. I ask him, "but where am I to go? I imagine there are a few planets that bear kyber crystals. What am I to do?"

Master Yoda stops to think of a plan for me. He says, "alliances across the galaxy, you must have. Alliances in Jedha, you must make. See, do you?"

I pause to take in my instructions. Then reply, "Master please, help me with this mission. I can only trust you with a lightsab—"

"Speak no more, Obi-Wan must. Failed, I have. Useless, I am. Into exile, I must go."

I look frustrated, but I see that I can't change his mind. So I stop trying to. I reply, "okay Master, if you don't want to help me than you don't have to. You have done a lot for me in my training since Qui-Gon and with Anakin as well. I am going to miss your guidance. I know what must be done to bring balance to the force."

He looks at me and replies, "a good student and master, you have been. Balance to the force, you must bring. The force, may it be with you Padawan."

I feel that I do know what I am to do. I say to him, "and may the force be with you Master." I bow to Master Yoda and to Bail Organa then exit the conference room. I walk down the hallway to my Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor. But before I enter the cockpit I hear a voice call my name. I see Bail Organa rushing towards me and stopping by my side. I look at him and ask, "Bail, what brings you back old friend?"

He looks at me and says, "I have a message from Master Yoda. He said that making alliances will be difficult. There is hardly any trust anymore in the galaxy and finding people that can trust you will be difficult. He said that you should try to start with the Guardians of the Whills on Jedha. There are two people that trust each other there. If I remember he said their names are Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus. Yoda hopes that you will gain these people as allies against Darth Vader because they have weapons of great power. I believe that one of them has a lightbow which contains much power. I also wanted to wish you a successful journey and I hope you achieve balance to the force. Good luck, and may the force be with you Obi-Wan."
