The boy grabbed Nancy's waist as the cart flew past them. Nancy unhooked the hands from her waist as she patted her skirt neatly down. "Thank you for that." Nancy picked up her phone which hand fallen on the ground. There was now several cracks running along the screen thay hadn't been there before. Hoping it still worked she placed the cracked item in her pocket. Totally forgetting about the stranger, Nancy was starting to head off to examine the cart when a hand grapped her shoulder.
"You're very much welcome. You're a fairly bold servant to not apologize or even bow to a guest."
Nancy sighed, not even having turned around yet. 'I have to deal with this right now?! Someone just tried to kill me, and I finally get to examine evidence and I have to bow down to him?' swallowing her slight bitterness in the situation, she turned towards the man and bowed courtiously. "I'm sorry sire," Nancy said rising her head from the bow. "I will-" She looked at the face of the guest.
"Ned?" she unconsciously mumbled as she scanned the face. He had the features, but his eyes we're a changing blue green, and his hair a sandy blonde. Physically everthing was the same, even their height was the same; however, their was an air of ignorance in his posture. "Oh, I'm sorry." Nancy quickly apologized. She wanted to get away from this boy as soon as possible. The situation was getting even more complicated.
"No problem, but next time you run into a Prince who happens to save your life, you should really thank him properly." He snickered.
"I'll try to remember that." Nancy said as she strayed her attention towards the cart. Everything seemed normal like broken china and spilled tea. "What's this..." A piece of paper was peeking up underneath a broken plate. She carefully moved the plate, but still happened to have cut her finger in the process. Ignoring the small pain, she successfully pulled the paper out of the mess. Tea had smudged most of the writing, but there were a few words she could make out:
I have the diamond.
"The diamond?" Someone asked behind her. It was the Prince. He was still next to her. "Is this diamond referring to the stolen one previously this week?" His voice was filled with confusion. Nancy quickly crumbled the paper and swiftly placed it in her pocket as casually as she can. Nancy kept quiet pretending not to hear his question. Still half distracted, Nancy didn't realize she was picking up the broken shards of glass from the teacups. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." She looked up at the Prince in confusion. He looked at her then maneuvered his eyes towards her hand which was bleeding. She couldn't feel a thing, but before she could pull out a handkerchief, the Prince bent over and grabbed Nancy's hand.
He pulled a white handkerchief from his pocket and tightly wrapped it around her hand. His movements were smooth, and it's as if he did this everyday. Nancy couldn't fight back. She was in a state of vulnerability and Nancy never got use to someone talking care of her.
"There," he finished knotting it and stood up. "It should help with the bleeding." He held out his hand and helped Nancy up.
"Thank you..." Nancy bowed remembering he was prince. He gave her a simple nod and continued down the hallway. Staring at her hand, gave herself a mental slap. She was smart enough to solve international cases, but not smart enough to realize she was picking up sharp glass.
Carefully cleaning the rest of the mess and retiring her apron in the kitchen, she headed to her room. As she walked she remembered the prince. Why had he looked so much like Ned? Is it physically possible...Nancy stopped infront of her door with the thought, Maybe its Ned in disguise, and he's just tormenting me. She shook the thought off as entered her room, and laid exhausted on her bed. She reached for the crumbled up piece of paper from earlier. "Come on Nancy. I need to focus." she mumbled to herself as she unfolded the paper.
Nancy sat up from her bed in shock. Someone had somehow switched the notes. The new note now read:
If you want your note back, come and find me.
