Everything Stays

Fluttering like a butterflies wings, your eyes shifted in a flash. You didn't want to get up, you were so tired. Couldn't you sleep a little longer? Wasn't it a weekend anyhow? You could just sleep for a few more hours, even though you know you had to get up and do things. But something deep pulled you back, you were dreaming. Not sure what it was however but you wanted to go back. You wanted to dream of it just a bit more.

"Jayde?", a dark voiced husked silently. "Oh shit, they aren't here. They should be." The voice you so openly heard seemed to be in a slight panick but relief poured into the words. You hadn't known why it seemed a conundrum of feelings, but you wanted to comfort the voice. Opening your eyes, you saw none other than Sans with worry etched onto his face but a bright happy smile across. "Hey there, how're you feeling?", he quickly recovered.

Why was Sans here in my room? You had thought to yourself. Had he been watching you sleep? If so, you two may need to talk about boundaries in your relationship. It was slightly creepy the thought of him doing that. But for some reason, you felt the need to sit up first. Pain waved over you as you tried and you gasp for air. Confusion hit over you as you touched the beginning of such pain. Your stomach? It had bandages wrapped all around it, but why? Finally looking around you saw you weren't in you room. Wires were hooked up to your hands for an IV and to read your heart beats. A soft blanket developed your pain drivel body and unnatural lights hit you from the hallway. You heard slight click clack of someone's feet crossing the cracked gray door. The walls were  a neutral with random soft blue and gold flicks of color. You would have looked down if you could but sadly your body was handling the agonizing feeling in your gut. What had happened? Where were you exactly?

"Uh here sit back, let me help you", Sans insisted as he gently pushed his hand on your shoulder and the other grabbing a gray remote. You saw him press an arrow button facing upwards, and soon heard a mechanical whoo, indicating that the bed was moving the top up to where you could comfortably sit upwards.

You couldn't help but to express confusion with your eyes as panic gripped your dry throat. You didn't understand what was happening and why you felt so much pain in your abdomen. Gripping your stomach protectively you gazed into Sans shadow. Why was it so dark in here? And why did it smell of medicine? Straining your ears you heard the noises of the background come alive. Soft padding of sneakers, tapping pens, and calm whispers filled the air.  Deducting from your limited perception you guessed you were in the hospital, but why?

Sans shifted his head back and forth as if confused of what to do in an anxious manner. "I um, I'll be back. Please don't try to move", he pressed. He was acting strange, stranger than usual. You reach out to grab his hand and look at him with your tired eyes. Why am I tired? I just woke up... Shaking the thoughts loose; you whispered, "Sans.."

You didn't know what to say after this, defuddled you looked away and release your grip of his hand. "Don't worry, I'll be back as soon as I can. There are people dying to see you", he excused without giving you a second chance to deject. You heard the door open and close, breathing deeply you held whatever questions you had for later.

And there you sat, in the dark. Alone. Thoughts wirled through you as you tried to remember what had happened and wondering why Sans was so serious. It scared you almost, since the only time he ever was serious with you was at the first Christmas party.  Sans may not know this, but sometimes he could be really intimidating when he wanted to be. You knew he wouldn't ever try to make you feel scared of him, in fact you knew he wanted the opposite. And for the most part you weren't. But this kind of seriousness didn't scare you like it had on that faithful walk you two took so long ago. It concerned you, it was as if he wasn't upset with you but something entirely different. Something inside of himself, and you knew he had walls. You just wondered if you could ever break through them. Maybe I won't ever, maybe this will all crumble down just like...  but just like what? Something was edging on your mind, something important. Someone important with an important information, but what? It had to do with those dreams, you think? What were they even about? Maybe you were just going insane. Maybe this was a side effect from the morphine you suppose they are giving you. But is it?
