"Don't think that you can just steal Gray away from me." Gabby growled at me in the girl's restroom. "He's mine, and he'd never like a freak like you."

Her words stung more than they should've. I can usually ignore her petty insults that she throws at me every day, but this time it was different. This time she was right.

My thoughts were interrupted by a burst of pain in my jaw, and I cried out it pain. Gabby punched me again, this time in the stomach. She laughed as I doubled over in agony, and she continued her strikes by kicking me in the side over and over and over again.

"What is going on in here!?" A voice demanded from the doorway. I glanced up and saw Gabby's fear stricken face. "Gabby, get out. Before I have to hit a girl." It was a boy's voice.

Gabby scrambled out of the bathroom as fast as she could, and I winced as I tried to get up. The figure rushed to my aid and gently helped me up.

"Piper," Gray whispered, and I looked up at the familiar pair of grey eyes. "Piper are you alright?"

I tried blinking back tears, but I couldn't hold them back. The pain in my jaw was nauseating.

"I want to go home. Please bring me home." I croaked before everything went black.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

I woke to the brush of fingertips caressing my cheek, and my eyes eyes slowly peeled open. I was face to face with Gray Anderson, who gave me a small smile as he saw I was awakening. I glanced around the unknown room and whispered, "Where am I?"

"You're at my house. I didn't know where you lived, so I just brought you here so I could take care of you for now." He replied, his grey eyes glittering as our eyes met. I mumbled a thank you before a throbbing pain entered my head and I winced.

"Your pain medicine is probably wearing off. That was one nasty blow." He observed. "I'm sorry this happened. What did she want?"

"She told me..." I hesitated. "She told me to stay away from you."

Gray blinked back in surprise.

"What is that supposed to mean?" He questioned making me roll my eyes.

"Isn't it obvious? She thinks I have a thing for you, and wants you for herself. What she doesn't know is that we are only friends. Gabby didn't really give me much time to explain."

As I finished the pain grew stronger, and I felt tears slowly dripping down my cheeks. Gray took his thumb and wiped the salty liquid away, resulting in his fingertip becoming a dark black because of my eyeliner.

I probably look horrendous I thought to myself.

"You don't look horrendous, Pipes." Gray whispered. Apparently I needed to learn to think my thoughts instead of speaking them. "You look beautiful."

He reached over and met my forehead with his soft lips. I could barely keep my eyes open as I was drifting to sleep.

"You look real."

Those were the last words I heard before I fell into unconsciousness again.
