Gone for Eternity

Chapter 1: The Unknown

- Set in the ending of the last GONE SERIES book light-

The boy would slowly climb the steps of the church lit red and yellow by the forest blaze, his hand tightly held around the strands of Sandy hair from the lifeless Drake Merwins head. He'd try to stand up straight, wincing slightly from the sharp pain of the whip marks as he'd lunge the head into the flames, smiling slightly at the sizzingly noise the flames made as they'd scorch the head. "Sam!?" - he would turn to face Astrid who stood weakly at the bottom of the steps. He would slowly slump down them - coming to a rest in her arms, "Sam are you okay?" her worried voice would cause sharp pains in his brain, the smoke from the church causing him to feel nauseous as he'd let out several coughs, "He-hes gone i-" Sam would reply before erupting into another load of coughs, "The smoke." i'd croak, Astrid would nod leading them both away from the scorching church, around the mixture of gruesomely burned  debris and mutilated bodies of the kids who were unable to escape the Gaiaphages wrath - and came to a rest at the Town Plazas empty fountain. They would slump down, backs resting against the cold stone of the fountain, breathing heavily, Astrid would cradle Sam in her arms, "Its over now eh?" Sam would try to chuckle, causing him to wince at the small movements it caused, Astrid would simply nod planting a kiss upon his forehead "I guess so Sam..i guess so". Sam would stay like this for what seemed like centuries soon falling asleep from exhaustion and pain only to be woken up by someone frantically shaking him. "Wake up!" Sam would blink a few times till his eyes finally focused on the dark haired girl above him - Diana. "W-where are we?" Sam would groan sitting up slightly and noticing Astrid standing next to the brunette, her face a stream of tears.

"Whats wrong?" He'd ask, standing up with a help from Diana.

"Look." Would be the only response Diana would give pointing in the direction of the barrier wall. Sam would turn to look, but there would be no wall - Sam would smile, "We're free, why are you crying?" he'd say this with an unsure tone, Astrid would simply shake her head, "Sam look at the cars...trailers."

Sam would take a few steps to get a better view of the distance, where the busy crowd of anxious adult, army soldiers and New teams used to stand to gaze into the horrific world of the fayz were gone, just a silhouette of empty cars, vans, trailers.

"No." Sam would whimper, trembling as he'd sink to his knee, burying his head and fists into the ground as tears would sting his eyes, "No.."
