New Beginnings

Really? We're going to high school. Well then. Didn't see that coming. Liam breaks the silence. "So, when do we start?"

"Their first day is today, but you boys will start next week," the large man explains. We nod, taking in the information. "Well, that's all we needed you boys for, so feel free to leave."

We stand and exit the room. Harry voices what all of us were thinking. "That was unexpected."

Nodding in agreement, I say, "I wonder what years we'll be in. All the same, maybe." I shrug as I state that. Whatever happens, this'll certainly be a new beginning.

I'm attacked as I walk in. Not actually, but with a violent hug that almost makes me fall over. I don't know who it is until I see the bright blonde hair in my face and smell coconut shampoo. "Hi Lotte," I choke out.

"Ohmigosh I missed you sosososo much!" she squeals. I laugh.

"It's been two days, hon," I reply. This is Lotte Simmons, my exuberant and enthusiastic BFF. She and I are practically joined at the hip, and we've known each other since preschool. She threw a Lego at my head, and I cried and slapped her. Totally friendship making there.

"So, you excited for senior year?" she asks, looping her arm through mine and ambling down the hallway. I nod in response.

"Yeah, I am. I feel like something huge is gonna occur. Even though we're so close to the end of so many things, I feel like it's a new beginning."

She nods, her blonde curls bouncing. "Something big is gonna go down, not sure what, but it's gonna be bigger than all of us." As we talked, we got closer and closer to our new lockers. Lotte squeals when she realizes we're next to each other. "This year is going to be FAB." As it turned out, it would be. It would be "fab", but it would also be sad, confusing, and utterly screwed up. But definitely something I could never forget.
