After the bell I like the most rings, releasing us from an awful day in school where teachers yelled stuff and endowed upon us assignments and projects, I walk to my locker and get rid of books I won't look at and are heavy.

If you're wondering why I am not sitting in a room dying of boredom, well that's because The Gruff forgot to hand out our detention slips.

And everyone knows that without a slip there is no detention.

Walking towards the parking lot, I notice a group of people in a circle, crowding a forming brawl.

A fight attracting this much attention has to have at least one of my friends involved, if not all of them.

Only they can make people think they are interested in things they actually don't care about.

I push my way through the mass of bodies, muttering a string of colourful adjectives as I do so, rushing to see who has created such drama on the first day of school.

Why can't people be like me? I mean I just want to go home and sleep.

I notice Max and his group of bumble bees attacking someone.

After all, he is the captain of the football team which gives him power and authority amongst his team mates on, and off the field as well.

Besides that, almost all of the female population of the school is crushing on him because of his whole badboy charm and good looks.

But like in every chickflick, he loves the phrase 'use and throw', enjoying the attention those desperate females give him.

And apparently, all that is needed to remain on top of the food chain in high school especially when you're a senior.

My eyes fall on Max and his two of his friends Chad and Dave picking on  someone.

Nathan Elijah Storm.

Holding behind him a tiny frame of Victoria who is clutching the back of his t-shirt for her dear pathetic life.

"Stop." Surprisingly, I sound calmer than I actually am.

But then again why would I be mad? It's not like she sticking to him like Velcro makes me want to rip out my eyeballs.

Right?

"Stop." I raise my voice a bit more, asserting my authority and command.

Mainly because I got ignored the first time and I hate getting ignored.

All heads turn towards me, even my two friends who were just standing and watching this stupid charade by Max without intervening.

"Stay it of this, Anney." Max growls at me, using his oh so original pet name and glares.

"What are you doing Max? You've never fallen so low. Seriously? Picking on the nerds? That's so cool." I clap mockingly at him.

"Listen to your boyfriend and stay out of this, Marianne and maybe if you can, try to teach him some manners. There is no use trying to pick a fight where he knows he will lose. " Nathan smirks. Max growls and throws daggers at him and just for precaution I move and place myself in front of Max.

What the hell is he thinking?! Max can, and will punch the living daylights out of him and won't even have to blink once.

He has a reputation for a reason and he won't hesitate to give you a special performance. After all, he is what they call the "bad boy" in those crappy chickflicks.

"Move Anney." Max says in a low but cold voice and I turn to face him.

"Nope. Nada. Na- ah. Not at all, I refuse to. Especially if you are going to make this human specimen your new punching bag." I fold my arms on my chest.
