Prologue

-MIA-

"Help me move the boxes in the car, Mia. This is all your stuff you know." My mom has not stopped her nagging since this morning. Since my dad is too busy trying to get the crappy car to turn on, I'm stuck helping my mom move more heavy ass boxes. I groaned and turned my phone off; helping her.

"How long are we gonna be on the road? Because, if I get car sick and puke all over, it's gonna be on you guys." I glared at the vehicle. Mom turned to look at me and shook her head.

"Calm down Mia, it's only going to be a fifteen minute drive is all." She straightened her camisole under her sweater and let out a breath of exhaustion I assume. I rolled my eyes and groaned for the second time today.

"That's too long. I didn't even get to say bye to my friends." I whined. She ignored me and got into dads black F-150. I took my phone out and quickly texted my 'boyfriend', Zach. We've been 'dating' for two weeks now. I don't really like him, just the fact that everything that I want; he gave to me. So, it wasn't hard for me when I texted him:

'Sorry, I don't think this gonna work out. I'm moving today too, so don't bother visiting. Bye Zach.'

Call me a bitch, but I don't care. I'm pretty sure he only wanted me for my body, or my money. Like every other guy I hang with.
My dad was still working on the beat-up yugo that one if his friends payed him to fix.

"Jennifer, just go and get all that to the new house. I'll see you guys there once I get this car to turn on." Hollered my dad from the garage over to my mother. She gave him a thumbs up and honked for me to get in with her. My eyes stayed glued to the screen on my pink Iphone, but managed to slip into the front seat next to my mom.

"Texting your friends a good-bye?" She asked. I glanced at her then to my phone sighing. I was. I have four best friends that are like sisters I never had. We literally shared everything together, and now I was going to be fifteen minutes away from them. From everything here, actually.

"Yeah, group chatting with all four." I blinked. It's not like it's going to be hard for me to make more friends once we make it to our new house, because I can easily do that with my eyes closed. I just don't think I'll be able to be as open with anyone, but them.

"I'm sorry honey. But this is where you father got his new job." She tried making me feel better.

"I know mom." I mumbled, eyes still on the device that had me connected to my friends. Fiona, Lilly, Nicole, and Jessy was their names. Lilly has just turned 15, so she was the youngest in the group. Nicole was the quite one. Jessy had her eyes in the same guy for two years, so no one really bothered getting her attention. Fiona was like me, only she was shy very often. And me, I was kinda like the 'head' of the group, because the guys always picked me first, but for obvious reasons.

--

Twenty minutes later, I'm helping mom move the boxes into the house. It was pretty nice. Not as big as our previous one, but still nice.
We arrived a few minutes ago and as expected, I was as car sick as hell.

Once I set them down, I made my way up the stairs to find my room. The first one was a bit too dull, the walls a grayish blue. The second caught my eye. The sunshine coming from the window illuminated it perfectly, and I knew this one was the one. I set the last box I had labeled 'Mia' down, claiming the room.

I dodged my mom in the kitchen and walked back into the summer air of outside. I closed my eyes and inhaled, smiling. The sound of shouting broke through my brief moment of peace, and I snapped my eyes open again.

There were two guys, shirtless, playing basketball on their driveway across the street. One a bit shorter than the other. I stared at them awhile longer, then once the taller one made eye contact with me, I looked away as quick as I could and turned to walk back inside. Of course, being the flirty girl I am, I looked back over my shoulder finding him still looking at me, and winked with the best flirty smile I could manage.

He blinked, snapping out of his trance and bounced the basketball in his hands to the other guy, who shot it and made it in.

Now I feel welcome to the neighborhood.
