The rest of the school day went normally. When she went on the bus, she noticed something. Karkat happened to be sitting alone, listening to music on his IPod like always. She decided to sit next to him. "Nepeta, what the hell are you doing over here?" Karkat asked in his usual annoyed tone. "You seemed lonely, so I just decided it was a good idea to give you company!" Nepeta replied. Karkat sighed, and didn't say anything else. The rest of the bus ride seemed like forever, until Nepeta finally got home. Nepeta lives with her sister and her grandma, because her parents died in a car crash when she was only four years old. Her brothers, Equius and Horrus, used to live with her and the others, but they are now in college and they live on the campus. Nepeta got off the bus pretty quickly. However, she didn't realize that she ended up leaving her shipping notebook on the bus. That notebook was important to her, and she could never let anyone, especially Karkat, see what one specific ship inside the book was. When Nepeta got off the bus and into her house, Karkat realized a notebook on the ground in the bus. It was a green spiral notebook with a cute cat picture on the front, along with Nepeta's name. When Karkat got off the bus, he decided to look in the journal. It had a ton of ships on each page, and each picture was drawn in this really cute art style. After flipping through the pages a bit, one ship stood out. The picture was bigger than the others, and it had it's own page, instead of being with a ton of other ships. Then, he realized that the characters potrayed in the image were him and Nepeta. Karkat was in shock. Why, out of tons of people, would Nepeta have a crush on some random jerk that happend to be her neighbor for a few years? He decided to go to Nepeta's house to return the book, but when he tried to simply walk to the doorstep, something inside of him would not let him. Somehow, he ended up going to the door and knocking on it. It took a while, but the door ended up being answered, but not by Nepeta. It was Meulin, her sister. "What do you want, Mr. Jerkface?" Meulin exclaimed, followed by a glare. Meulin did not like Karkat, mostly because she did not like the idea of Nepeta being head-over-heels for him. "Well, I was just going to return this notebook to Nepeta. Does that make me a jerk?!" Karkat argued back. Meulin sighed. "Ugh, fine, you can come in. Nepeta is in the backyard." Meulin said with a much calmer tone. Karkat began to walk over to the door, until he felt someone grab his arm very tightly. It was Meulin, of course. She glared at him again. "Listen, if you even look at a page of that notebook, you are dead meat!" Meulin growled. She let go of Karkat's arm and walked away, most likey to her room. Karkat walked to the door to the backyard and opened it. He entered the backyard and, almost immediately, found Nepeta inside of the treehouse.
