That night, I didn't have a nightmare. Just a really horrifying dream.
And It involved the only one dreamer. Alice. This also concerned me a bit as well, only because she wasn't there when we needed her to decide where she went. She would've helped a lot.
In the dream though, it was her and me. We were hanging out under the floating tree until she started shaking. I don't mean shivering, I mean shaking so much that i could feel it from a foot away. Then, she bowed her head. She looked up, and her eyes were no longer that pretty deep-sea blue, but we're sliver. She started mumbling. The louder she got, the less I could understand. It seemed to me that it was in a different languge. Then a dagger appered in her hand and said the only thing that I could understand "Baxter's next." and then I woke up in a pool of sweat.
And so I did what I did yesterday, I took a look at the journal on my desk. It had new writing of the dream and resonded to my message the day before. First I read and saw the images from the journal from the dream. Then took a quick peek at the message.
"Call me the believer. And I have everything to do with your friend being gone. You took the journal when you weren't supposed to. You did wrong, and the prophecy is now broken. You will pay."
And I responded with "I'll do anything, please. Tell me what to do to fix this!"
I waited for a bit for this journal to respond, and I got nothing. After 20 minutes, closed the journal, got a granola bar from the snack cabinet downstairs, and went to the key tree. On my way, I thought to myself, "Now there's two important trees in my life." and sat down in the shade. Then, Cleo called us all to our meeting spot. It sounded important in my thoughts so I went to see what's up.
She told me that Baxter was nowhere to be found. That he was gone. This was the only time Cleo was being mature, but her brother was still in some sort of daze "Maybe he also got eaten my the killer ostrich!" Nobody, not even Cleo, cracked a smile at this pathetic humor. I was about to tell them what'd happened to Alice and Baxter, but little Emma spoke up. "Maybe she stopped dreaming too?" and once again, I forgot to tell them what I know about the disappearing's' of my one and only friends in the world.
I was only there till lunch time in the real world. I ran over to the apple tree right beside the one I was sitting at. I'd never noticed there before, but it was a nice tree. I took a bite of the apple, and I heard voices. Voices that we're familiar. Way too familiar. It was Alice. She screamed " Help! Fargo! HHEEELLPPPP!" I took another bite of the fruit. Then, Baxter was screaming at me, "Fargo! We need you! Save UUUSSSSS!" Then I screamed, accidently threw the apple at a pedestrian (sorry, I was really freaked out) and sprinted back to the key tree. The journal was there. And I don't remember bringing it.
I looked at the front of it, and once again, it had a new crack on the cover. The first one had also grown twice the size, and is now twice as deep as well. I touched the newly made crack, and that only made it worse. I decided to look at the back to see if there was any indents there as well, but none yet. I went back to the Dreamers. This time I will not forget. I will tell them what I know. I need to warn them.
Cleo, Dazeiel, and Emma all met me at our favorite spot. But the tree looked a bit.......different to say the least. The rainbow glow that the magical tree once possessed was faded. I was the only one to notice this though, because when I mentioned it, none of the others seemed to know what I was talking about.
"What do you mean? I don't see anything different..." Cleo retorted
"Are you seeing this again, Fargs? (the nickname they gave not weeks ago) Do we need to take you back to the doctor?" Dalziel joked. Cleo laughed along with him. Looks like Cleo is back to normal.
"Are you sure you're okay Fargo?" Emma looked concerned
"Guys.... I'm fine. And I don't need a doctor. Look I have to tell you something really important!" I hollered
"Sorry bud, Cleo and I gotta go home for dinner. Tell us later?" And then they were gone.
"What about you Emma?" I was desperate for someone to know.
"I can't either. My mom will be worried in I'm in the perfect world too long. The last time that happened, she took me to a hospital, and I had to get tested on for hours. We'll meet tomorrow. Promise." Now I was stuck alone. Again. And even worse than that, I still didn't tell anyone what lies ahead for them. They are all doomed.
That night, I still got nothing back from the believer, so I added one thing before I went to bed "Who'll be next, Cleo or Dalziel? Because they're both twins... or will they go at the same time? I heard someone open my door to my room. It was one of the girls that lived in the orphanage with me, Libby. She was very quiet, and I have never spoken to her in my life. Her head was always down, and she always wore a necklace around her neck, the pendent being a dagger, just like one from my dream. For the first time in my life, her head was up. She was starring at me with brown eyes which suddenly turned....sliver?
