Afternoons with you were like heaven. You sat on the grass as I placed my head on your lap. Sometimes you grabbed some flowers that were nearby and carefully laid them on my forehead, with no apparent reason. You played with my hair and kissed my cheeks every once in a while. But I think my favorite thing about our afternoons was when you slowly got close to my face, so our noses were touching and we felt each other's warm breath. We both closed our eyes, stayed like that for a few minutes, and you just whispered "if things get hard, if nothing makes sense and the only thing you have left is a broken face, lay on the grass, and all the disgrace will go away". If what I felt for you wasn't love, then I don't know what it was, all I know it's that it was beautiful. And when you left... I was lost. Everything seemed colorless. All I saw was darkness. I thought it was matter of time to get over all of this, but I couldn't. I tried, I tried so hard, but it felt impossible. It all seemed too real for me, and I just couldn't accept the fact that you were gone.
One afternoon I remembered what you said "if things get hard, if nothing makes sense and the only thing you have left is a broken face, lay on the grass, and all the disgrace will go away", so I did. I laid on the grass, for the first time in what seemed to be ages, I saw color. I saw your face. I heard your voice. I touched your skin. I finally felt something, something nice, something that I missed so much. I laid on the grass, just like we used to and I felt your hand holding mine, even though you weren't there. All the memories of all the times we accidentally slept on the couch while watching a movie or when it rained we went outside on purpose to have long walks till the rain stopped. I remembered how you blushed every time I stared at you, getting lost in your eyes. I remembered that every time you whispered in my ear, it send shivers down my spine. It all came back. And it all started with afternoons and grass.
