Limelight

I showed my leg first, for the cameras to shoot, then I waved my hand for the crowds to hoot

The limousine was white and so was I,the real me beneath was about to cry

My make up was a mask , to hide my beauty

all that was left of me was public booty

I made my way to the Awards ceremony

I could hear my peers gossiping between the cacophony

I received my award with all my pride

chiding my so called "fake" tears to hide

The true appreciation was lost somewhere between the audience clapping

I could only see eyes rolling , dreaming desires they were mapping

No more was my face lauded, only my cleavage was applauded

Kisses on the cheeks were invites for a night

Not something uncommon for the people of the limelight
