I'm finally uploading all my stuff from Ao3 here after like 2 months

This one was isnpired by Death Of A Bachelor by Panic at the disco

You sat on the edge of the balcony, empty wine glass dangling from your fingers, watching as the distant lights of Venice twinkled merrily. A gentle breeze ruffled your hair, carrying with it a familiar scent. A muscular pair of arms wrapped around your waist and warm lips pressed themselves against the shell of your ear. "Good evening, il mio amore."

You let a smile spread across your face as you craned your head around, capturing Caesar's lips with your own, before pulling back, eyebrows raised. "Aren't you supposed to be preparing for your trip to Switzerland?"

"Ah but you looked so beautiful out here, the setting sun giving you a shining halo, like an angel from above", he said as he pressed his face into your neck. You snorted, tugging his arms loose as you stepped down from your perch.

"You're so cheesy Caesar, I can't believe that everyone thinks of you as some sort of Casanova."

He smirked, pulling you close to him once again, leaving only a few inches between your faces. "I managed to make you fall for me didn't I?"

"I suppose you did", you replied before pulling him in for another kiss, this one far more passionate and intense. You quickly ended it, chest heaving. "I think we'd better take this inside."

"I couldn't agree more", he said, eyes darkened with lust as he hoisted you into his arms.

When you woke up the next morning the other half of the bed was cold and empty. On top of your nightstand was a familiar checkered hat and tucked underneath it was a note. You sat up, blanket wrapped around your nude figure as you retrieved the letter and unfolded it.

Il mio amore,

Know that I leave you now not to just to fight for the Zeppeli family name, but to fight for you as well. I intend to one day make it so that defending the Zeppeli name means defending you, but first I must make this world safe for you and our future family. In the meantime please watch over my nonno's hat for me. I will return to you.

Eternally yours,

Caesar

You held the note to your chest, heart throbbing with a forbidding sensation as you whispered aloud, "He'll come back. He has too."

When Suzie Q ran into your room, saying something about Joseph and a hospital you immediately jumped to your feet, eager for any sort of info regarding your blonde lover. The two of you rushed to the hospital, heading straight for Joseph's hospital room when you arrived. You hung back for a second, allowing Suzie Q and Joseph to share a moment before you could no longer contain yourself, making your presence known by clearing your throat. Joseph looked up and his face fell, his normally cheerful expression unusually somber. Your heart was in your throat as you asked, "Jojo where's Caesar?"

Joseph looked away, for once he couldn't think of what to say."Jojo", you said once more, your voice cracking,"where's Caesar?"

Joseph stared out the window, unable to meet your eyes. "I'm.... I'm sorry. Caesar, he", Joseph paused and took a deep breath,"he didn't make it." For a second your mind goes blank and you feel as if you're floating. Then reality comes crashing down around you as you feel your heart shatter, tears already forming in the corners of your eyes. Suzie Q comfortingly placed her arm around your shoulders and stroked your hair with her other hand, letting you weep into her shoulder. A part of you registers the fact that Joseph is using his remaining hand to dig through the drawer of the nightstand by his bed, but you don't look up at him until he calls your name. In his hand is a small blue box. "Caesar left some things behind. I'm pretty sure this was meant for you." You reach out with trembling fingers and take it from him, almost scared to touch it. When you open it, you can feel a fresh wave of tears rise up as you take out the contents. In your hand is a beautiful ring with a heart shaped diamond in the center. The band is decorated with swirls of blue jewels that remind you of Caesar's bubbles. The inside of the ring is engraved, and when you read it you feel a surge of love and grief, the words "Eternally yours" echoing in your head. You slide the ring on and it's a perfect fit. Cradling your hand to your chest you inhale slowly, managing to give both Joseph and Suzie a watery smile.

"He was planning to propose when he got back. I don't think he'd mind if I wore this."

A few years later you stand in front of your beloved's grave, ring still shining brightly from your left hand as you trace the letters on the tombstone. Your other hand is wrapped around the hand of a small blonde boy, with pink markings on his cheeks. On the the grave the words "Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli 5/3/1918-2/27/1939 A courageous friend, a loving partner, and a proud family man. May he watch over his friends and family, and be with us eternally." Rising to your feet, you scoop your son up, and turn to walk back to where Joseph, Suzie Q, and Lisa Lisa are waiting for you. You pause and look back.

"I still love you, Caesar. I always will."

For a second, there's the sensation of arms enclosing you and your son in a hug and the scent carried by the wind is painfully familiar. You squeeze your eyes shut to suppress your tears, a voice whispering "I love you too Il mio amore. Both of you" in your ear. The little boy in your arms looks up at you quizzically, green eyes that you know so well shining in the light of the setting sun. You simply press a kiss to his forehead, vowing to yourself that he would grow up knowing that his father had kept his promise, and made the world a safe place for his family.
