Amelia stares up at the building her hands holding on tightly to the straps on her backpack. Taking a deep breath in, she walks towards the building each step bringing her closer to her future. Students walk by her engross in their conversation. Not paying her any attention. She was invisible and for once she was grateful for that. As she steps insides a queasy feeling forms in the pit of her stomach. She knew the school was a bit bigger then her last one, but still she couldn't help but feel intimidated by all the students that littered the main entrance. Venturing further inside, she sees the main office. When she came last week to register she was told someone would show her to her classes on her first day. Amelia didn't want to have to do the whole small talk, so instead she walked away in search of the nearest bathroom. She needed some peace and quite and she wasn't going to find any out here.

She see's on by the cafeteria so she heads that way. She doesn't get to far when a body bumps into her making her lose her balance. Desperate not to fall she reaches out towards the person and grabs ahold of them bringing them down on top of her. Pain shoots through her and she gasps as the air is knocked out of her. The person quickly gets up cursing. It takes her a minute to gather her bearings and when she does, she looks up to see the boy from earlier.

"Are you okay?" He asks.

A crowd has gathered around them clearly wondering what was going on. He extends is hand out waiting for Amelia to take it, but she ignores it. She helps herself up and focuses her attention on the person standing in front of her. She wanted to yell at him and tell him to watch where he was going, but the crowd that gathered around them made her bite her tongue. She didn't want to bring herself anymore attention then she already had. So instead she mutters an 'I'm fine' and walks away. Not even 15 minutes into school and she already made a fool herself. She wanted this day to be over with, but knowing her luck this was just the beginning.

Amelia was right. Her day wasn't getting any better. Lunch had ended  10 minutes ago and Amelia was lost. She couldn't find her 6th period class- health. She thought she was heading in the right direction but soon realized her mistake when she walked into the wrong class. The instructor had told her she needed to be in the East wing not the West and when asked if she needed assistant Amelia had told him no. Now she was regretting her decision. She finds a bench outside next to the building and sits down. She sets her schedule out in front of her. Wondering why the school had to be a maze. Most importantly why were there two separate wings? She runs her hand down her face letting out a frustrated sigh.

Looking around the campus, Amelia prays that she'll see someone who could be of assistant. There was no one, she was the only person sitting outside in the cold. Even though it was mid August, Texas weather was bit chiller then Californias. Maybe she could skip the rest of the day? Tell her grandmother she wasn't feeling well. She dismiss the idea. Uncomfortable with the thought of lying. Especially towards her grandmother. Sighing, she grabs her schedule. Maybe she should have gotten that tour they promised her? Walking back inside she tries one last time to locate her class. She continues to roam around the empty hallways and that's when she see's him. The boy she saw from this morning. There was no one with him, and by the way he looked; it seemed like he wanted it that way. He had his hood up. Eyes casted downwards with his earphones in. She wanted to turn around and head in the other direction, but her mind had other plans. She walks towards him and stops.

By the look on his face Amelia knew she had startled him, but his startled expression quickly changes to recognization. He takes one of his earphones out and smiles, "Can I help you?"

She clears her throat and pulls out her schedule showing it to him, "Do you mind helping me find this class? I've been roaming the hallways for the last 10 minutes and I still haven't found this stupid class. Honestly who's idea was it to create two separate buildings. I mean come on. Isn't it bad enough that..." she falters realizing that she was rambling. Her face heats up and she mumbles a sorry.
