I want to go home, complained Jamie inwardly. His day had been crap and his date sitting across from him at the table didn't make it any better. He'd hooked up with the guy a few weeks ago at a party, thinking he might be different from all the previous ones. How wrong he had been. Again.
Every single one of his ex-boyfriends had been douchebags. He'd never even known men could be gold-diggers until he'd met Josh. Imagine his surprise when he'd gone shopping for food and a cashier at the supermarket had told him that he hadn't had enough money on his debit card. Apparently, Josh had gotten himself a new nose. How he'd gotten to Jamie's money, he'd never found out.
Thinking about the past, Jamie didn't notice Adam talking to him until he felt a light touch on his hand, which brought him back to the present. He looked up at his dinner partner and saw Adam watching him in curiosity, silently asking Jamie if he was okay. He was in no mood to explain himself, though.
"Sorry, my brain just shut out for a second." He lied, giving him a weak smile, hoping Adam wouldn't ask him to elaborate more on it.
"No problem." Adam grinned boyishly, making himself look younger than his age. His smile could melt hearts of everyone around him. Such a bright white smile. Unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing to Jamie. Make no mistake, he did find Adam attractive but after a few dates with him, he knew Adam wasn't the one for him. The guy was self-centered and vain. Every time they'd met, he would talk only about himself. Of course, he'd ask Jamie about his day but after a minute or two, Adam would switch the topic back to himself. Jamie knew more about him than he knew about his parents. And he'd lived with his parents for 20 years!
Jamie was waiting for the moment when Adam would start yakking about anything and everything related to him. And of course, Adam, being the great him, didn't disappoint. A few minutes into the conversation and he was already explaining how generous he was, what with how much he liked to help his colleagues improve at their job. Blah blah blah. Adam's ass must be jealous of all that shit that is coming out of his mouth.
Jamie snorted at his own joke but quickly regained his composure, chancing a glance at Adam to see if he'd noticed the slight sign of impertinence he'd shown. Thankfully, Adam was babbling on, already in his own world now. No matter how intense the dislike for Adam, his mother had taught him better than to be rude.
Sighing, Jamie looked around, scanning the surroundings for something to kill his boredom. Everyone around them was eating and chatting away happily, which was to be expected. They were in a pizzeria, after all. He must admit he rather liked the place, too. It was cozy if not a tad bit outdated. Little decorations hung on the walls, collecting dust, and occasionally bringing about wheezing and coughing from the unfortunate asthmatic people. Jamie was glad he didn't suffer from any allergies or diseases.
He was about to turn his attention back to Adam when all of a sudden, in the corner of his peripheral vision, he saw a man walk into the restaurant. The second Jamie's eyes landed on him, his whole world stopped and an inexplicable joy ran through his veins, making him tremble in rapture, as if high on drugs. It was orgasmic. A soft moan escaped his lips as he closed his eyes, his face showcasing pure bliss. Everyone around him slowly faded into the background of blurriness and suddenly, all he could see was the beautiful angel in front of him. Jamie had never experienced anything quite otherworldly. Sex didn't even come close to it.
He focused on the guy's face and his eyes widened in astonishment. Hot damn! He'd seen many people who were beautiful but this man's looks were on a whole new level. His beauty was on par with that of Adonis'. Tall, muscular body covered with a gray overcoat on top of a white buttoned down shirt and a pair of black smart trousers. His facial features were strongly defined with a five o'clock shadow darkening his jaw, his eyes sky blue and his hair the color of the night. He was a walking eye candy.
