On the bus, I sat in my normal seat. Second to last seat on the left side of the bus. (left side if you are standing in the bus and looking towards the front.) On the bus, we have unassigned assigned seats. It is just common knowledge that you don't sit in other people's seats. Anyways, when I was walking to the back of the bus to get to my seat, I noticed a new person sitting in the seat behind mine. I couldn't what gender they were from afar, but as I got closer, i noticed that they were a girl. I sit down in my seat and I thought to myself,

"Hmm, maybe she hasn't heard about me yet."

I turn to the new girl, and she looks at me

"Hi, my name is paragon. What's your name?" I asked her in my nicest voice.

"Uhm... hello.. Paragon? That is an odd name..." They replied

"Yeah, I know it is odd. My father was a geologist and he wanted to name me after a gem."

"Oh, thats cool. Well, my name is Dylan." The girl said

My name may sound like a boy name, but I like it."

"It is a nice named.. So, have you heard anything about me, yet?" I asked her.

"No, I haven't. Are you popular? Should I have heard about you already?" Dylan asked with a perplexed look on her face.

"No, I'm not popular. It's good that you haven't heard about me yet. That means you haven't been told the lies."

"Are you a bad person, or something?" Dylan asked, looking a little concerned.

"No no no no no, it's not that. I have just... have a few weird quirks." I told her. "But it isn't anything to worry about. So yeah, let's move on, shall we?"

"Uh, okay"

Dylan and I talked until the bus got to school. When the bus arrived, we both got off. As I got off, I noticed Dennis talking to some kids. I grabbed Dylan's hand, and walked as fast as I could to the gate and into school. Once we got into the school, Dennis started walking over. I noticed him walking over and I started to walk faster, but got blocked by a sea of students.

"Fuck" I whispered under my breath.

"Paragon? Are you okay?" asked Dylan.
"Im fine" I told her. "Just get away befo-"

I was cut off by the sound of Dennis's laughter.

"Hehehheheheh. You thought the bus was going to save you? Well, It wont after school. I know your route. I know where you live, an-" He stopped talking as he layed his eyes on Dylan.

" What are you, her girlfriend?" He asked dylan as he chuckled.

"No I-I'm her friend. Paragon didn't do anything to you, so y-you should just b-back o-o-off..." Dylan said in a stuttering voice.

"Ha, looks like the freaks got herself a little friend. What's your name little girl?"

"Dy-"

"None of your business" I told Dennis, cutting off Dylan from saying their name.

"Whatever, freak, I will find out eventually."

Then, the bell rang and we heard someone on the overhead speaker say

"All 9th graders report to the auditorium. All other grades, report to period one."

Everyone looked a little confused. Me and all the other 10th graders made our way over to period 1 while a tidal wave of freshmen were running across campus trying to get the auditorium before the bell rang. I arrived to my period one without Dylan. She had to go to the office to get her schedule. As the bell rang, Dylan walked into the room and looked at me with relief. She walked over to Mrs. Camp, our first period English teacher, and handed her a slip. Then Mrs. Camp walked to the front of the class.

"Class, I would like you to meet your new classmate, Dylan Reese."
