You're so cool, right? You're so cool with that girl on your arm. She's basically your trophy, isn't she? That little league one with the kid holding a baseball bat, poised and ready to strike with your name engraved on it wasn't enough anymore.
She's so pretty, right? She's so pretty with her long blonde hair and black lined eyes, with her thin waist and perfect legs. Her feet were never too wide and her hair was never too curly. She never went through that awkward phase where everything she wore was either too small or too big and she was never too much or not enough.
You're so perfect for each other, right? You're so perfect for each other because you find things like contradiction and irony fascinating and she has no idea what either of those words mean. You believe that when everything goes wrong, you can turn to your ever faithful guitar and notebook. She believes she can turn to a bottle of nail polish and a good spray tan.
It's so not wrong at all to hurt your best friend, right? It's so not wrong at all to hurt your best friend but when said best friend has never made a move to tell you that you're hurting him, it doesn't matter. It shouldn't matter. It shouldn't matter because you're happy and that's enough. You don't need to take the time to notice anyone else's feelings when you're in love.
You are in love, right? You are in love because you said so. Because she said so. You can fall for every word when they're coming from red lined lips and dripping in the faux sweetness you've bought since the very first time you laid eyes on her.
But it's all okay. It's all fine. Childish feelings like jealousy and resentment don't count anymore. Childish arguments don't either. Who can fight with someone like you? Especially when you have someone like her to back you up? She'll back you up. She'll always be there. She said so. Everyone means what they say. Always.
Best friends forever. You meant that, right? Right. Because everyone means what they say. Always.
