"Are you excited for you new school, hun?", my mom asked looking at me from the passengers seat of the car.
"Yeah, but.. I guess I'm just nervous, I mean, I've never gone to another country with out you guys.", I replied.
"I'm sure you'll be fine Raven", my dad convinced, "Just don't forget to call us as soon as you get off the plane".
"Don't worry dad, I won't.", I exclaimed, "Do you know how long we have till we get to the airport?".
"I'm sure it to be soon", my mom assumed.
The rest of the car ride was silent. It felt like an hour before we got to the airport. I was finally here. I got the scholarship before this summer, and only had two months until I had to move to New Zealand. I knew that Avem academy would be the best option for me.
I looked up at the building before getting out of the car. This is the beginning to where my life would change. I got out out the car and began to gather my things out of the trunk.
"Are you ready to go, do you have everything?", my mom asked worriedly.
"Yes mom, I double checked, and I have everything. Don't worry.", I answered.
"Make sure you call us when you get there, we don't want anything bad to happen to you", my dad commented.
"I won't forget.", I chuckled, "I love you guys".
I gave them both a big hug before leaving, and my mom started to cry.
"Please don't cry mom, you going to make me cry too.", I confessed teary eyed.
"I'm sorry, I'm just sad that you're leaving. I'm gonna miss you honey.", my mom admitted.
"I'm going to miss you too", I replied.
"Well, you better get going, your plane will be here soon", my dad said to me before leaving.
"Yeah, you're right", I murmured.
Before leaving I gave them both one last hug, and started running to the airport.
"I love you guys! I'll call you when I get off the plane!", I called out to them before heading in the door.
When I walked in the door, I saw that the room was cluttered with people, who were all going somewhere, like me. After leaving my parents, I felt alone and nervous.
"Hey, Raven!"
I heard my name in the distance but I just decided to ignore it.
"Hey Rave, are you going to say hi, or are you just going to ignore us?"
I look behind me and I see my best friends, Ava and Mika. I immediately hug them.
"Hey! Why are you guys here?", I asked, still surprised that Mika and Ava showed up.
"Do you really think that we'd let you leave without saying goodbye?", Mika teased.
"Well.. sorta.", I replied embarrassedly.
"I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I didn't at least say bye!", Ava commented.
"Yeah, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't say goodbye to me either", I giggled.
We all laughed.
"Man, I'm gonna miss you guys. I've been friends with you since.. I don't know how long", I said sadly.
"We're going to miss you too Rave", Mika replied.
I gave them one big, last hug before leaving. I didn't want to let go. I knew that wouldn't get to see them for a long time, and I've never been apart from them before.
"Well, I better get going. Bye guys! I hope to see you soon!", I yelled before I ran up to the escalator.
"Don't forget to call us to tell us all about your first day of school!", Ava shouted to me while I was going up the escalator.
"Haha, I won't forget!", I called out to her.
Once I was at the top of the escalator, I ran as fast as I could. I knew that I couldn't be late. I stopped running, and walked up to a lady the check-in.
"Hello, where will you be flying today?", the lady asked me in a kind voice.
"I have a flight going to New Zealand. Oh.. here." I handed her my flight ticket.
She takes my ticket and goes onto the computer.
"Okay, just put your baggage over there, and let security check your stuff. Then you can head over to the seating area to wait for your flight to be called.", she told me, pointing over to an area far away from where I was standing.
"Thanks!", I say as I run to the place where she pointed me towards.
I put my bags on the table, and they scan it to make sure I don't have anything dangerous. After my luggage is processed, a staff member then puts a bar-coded baggage tag into my bags. I walk over to an empty chair in the middle of the waiting room. I then text my mom, "In the waiting room now, about to be boarded", so that she doesn't worry too much about me getting on the plain safely.
I look up and hear,"The plane going to New Zealand will arrive in 15 minutes". Those 15 minutes felt like an hour. I was the most nervous I had ever been.
"The plane to New Zealand is now boarding".
I knew that was my flight. I get out of my seat and head to the plane. I go into the plane, and sit down in an empty seat next to the window. A girl about my age sits next to me. She's small and has light brown hair, with beautiful hazel eyes.
"Hi! What's your name?", the girl asks.
"My names Raven, what's yours?", I smiled at the girl.
"I love your name! My names Alice.. So, why are you going to New Zealand?"
"Well, I'm going to Avem Academy for the school year.", I replied.
"Really, me too! What grade are you in?", she asked excitedly.
"Last year in my high school I was a Junior, so this year I'll be a senior.", I addressed.
"Huh, me too. I hope we have some classes together!", Alice exclaimed.
"Yeah, that would be cool.", I said and looked at Alice.
"We're getting ready for take off. Make sure you put your seat belts.", I heard on loud speaker of the plane.
I put on my seat belt as the plane takes off. I took one last look at the town I lived in for all my life, knowing that I won't be able to see it again until a long time. This is it... the start of a new life in New Zealand.
