Chapter 4

Kathleen

A yell through the house interrupted anything that was about to happen. I growled angrily and got up, walking out of my room. I heard my mate squeak, but I ignored it. I walked downstairs to see my Beta and third in command. There stood the Beta, Malcolm, standing at about 6'4. I could see the muscles ripple through his shirt, and any other girl would have swooned at it, but me, he was simply just a good looking guy and nothing more. He had short blonde hair and grayish blue eyes. His eyes scanned down me and he bit his lip. I rolled my eyes and turned to the third in command, Hunter. He had dark brown hair and hazel eyes that changed colors slightly. He was also fit and had muscles, but seemed less serious than Malcolm. He was slightly shorter, but still taller than me. Even though I was 5'11, being around taller males was slightly intimidating.

I looked away and crossed my arms, popping my knee out to lean on the other leg. They both snapped out of it and looked up into my eyes. I rolled mine and looked back to them, the urgency returning to their eyes.

"Alpha Katie, something's happened." I looked to Malcolm with a serious face, standing up strait.

"What?" Hunter spoke this time.

"The offending clan has invaded. They're attacking soon and we need to head out."

"Fuck!" I ran upstairs and kissed Raelynn's head. "Stay here. This is serious and a Neko can't fight in a werewolf conflict." She nodded and kissed my cheek.

"I'll stay." I nodded.

"I'm going to lock down the house, no one will be able to get in or out, so just be aware. I'll be back as soon as possible. Watch a movie or something." With that I left, walking out and downstairs before running out the door, locking it down quickly then running off with Malcolm and Hunter. We transformed and ran quickly. I looked at the two and saw that Malcolm was a sandy color and Hunter was a brown reddish color. I focused on running, Malcolm to my right and Hunter to my left. We ran to the border to see my father talking to their Alpha. I transformed back human and began walking forward. I heard them talking.

"I will not talk to you! Only the current Alpha!" I walked up and placed a hand on my dad's shoulder.

"I'll take care of this." He looked at me with worry.

"Are you sure?" I nodded and stepped forward and looked at him, staring him in the eye.

"Alpha Katie. Nice of you to finally show up!" He sneered at me, causing me to growl at him.

"Watch it Alpha Tony. You're on my land now. What do you want?" He chuckled and circled me slowly, whispering in my ear.

"My wolves will go away if we can just talk... Alone." I stiffened and nodded.

"Fine, but only after they leave. They have half an hour to get 100 miles away, and stay away." He nodded and signed his small pack to leave. They all took off running and I sent someone to go with them and check back with me when they were the distance.

We walked somewhere where we could talk privately and waited until I got the call that they left and we far enough away.

"What is it that you want to talk about?" He looked at me and his grey eyes darkened slightly. He reached forward and touched my neck softly. I smack his hand away. "Back off player. I'm les." He chuckled and crawled over to me.

"I love a good challenge." I kneed him where the sun doesn't shine and ran away, only to have him grab my foot and pull me down again. I remembered we were in Malcolm house and I screamed.

"Malcolm! Hunter!" When no one came to my rescue my survival instincts came in as an Alpha and I punched him in the jaw. He growled and grabbed me, squeezing tightly. His Alpha strength was beginning to overpower mine because he was also a male, so he was slightly stronger naturally.

"Start cooperating and I won't hurt you." His hand gripped my throat and he took off my shirt quickly.

Suddenly the door burst down and someone grabbed me. I clutched their shirt in my hands and held on with all the power I had while my dad and Hunter grabbed Tony and cuffed his hands behind his back. I cried into the shirt of whomever was holding me. I could show emotion around my dad and Hunter because they knew the struggle of it.

I slowly began to calm down, hiccupping slightly as they let me down. I grabbed my black button up shirt and slipped it on, looking over to see it was Malcolm that had grabbed me and saved me. Once my shirt was on he turned to leave but I grabbed his wrist and pulled him into a hug.

"Thank you for saving me Malcolm." He nodded and wrapped his arms around me hesitantly before getting stronger.

"I had to save my Alpha. I'm supposed to be your protector Katie. If anyone else wants to meet privately with you from another clan then I must also be in the room, alright?" I nodded and slowly took my arms away and walked past him. I walked into time square where everyone was gathered, even Raelynn. She hugged me as soon as I made an appearance. I hugged her back and kissed the top of her head lightly.

"I'm okay baby. I'm okay." She kissed my nose and looked me in the eyes.

"We'll take more later." I nodded and walked to the stage and made a speech.

"No one from any other pack is allowed without my permission. If I find that there is someone here, then I will handle the situation myself. If you would like a visitor, you come to me. Not Malcolm, not Hunter, and not my father. Just me. That's it. Anyone who violates this is going to be in trouble and will have to answer to me." With that I got off of the podium and walked home with Raelynn, just laying in bed together and she played with my hair.

"Are you gonna be okay baby?" I sighed softly.

"I don't know. I'm just glad Malcolm saved me. The Beta is the Alpha's body guard technically, and he didn't do his job well. I'm sure he won't let it happen again. Can I just sleep now?" She nodded and sang to me until I fell asleep soon after.
