Rylee's POV:
"@camerondallas liked your post" I dropped my phone on the desk making a loud bang noise. I looked up from my desk to see everyone looking my way. Some giving me dirty looks, others laughing at my facial expression.
"Rylee what happened?" Ali turned around along with the rest of the class and gave me an odd look. "Dude he liked my photo" I'm shook.
"Who liked your photo?" I gave her a 'you're dumb' look and I saw her eyes widen, as her mouth dropped. I took my right hand and closed her mouth, and my left hand to keep her eyes from popping out of her head. But sure enough, a few seconds later her eyes widened and he mouth dropped again. "Yeah, I know".
"Let me see your phone dude" I gave my phone to her and within a few taps she's back in her wide eyed and mouth open phase. "He just liked my picture why that face again haha".
"Dude he didn't JUST like your pictur-" I cut her off. "I know I know it's 'more than just a picture' but really its just a like," I finish her sentence.
"Did you not see the other notifications?" What? "Umm, no? Alison what are you talking about." I start to get nervous,
"Rylee he commented on your photo too.." Wait what?! "Lemme see my phone" I grab it from her shaking hands and now mine are shaking too. I tap on his comment and right before I read it—MY PHONE DIES?
"ALISON DID YOU READ THE COMMENT?" She slowly shakes her head as I read the confused expression on her face. "Oh my god my phone just died." I say with a crying look on my face. "That succckkksss" She frowned.
After around another hour of misery later, the 2:00 bell rang, indicating that I was out of school, so I got out of class, said bye to Ali, and walked to my car. I shuffled through my car for keys and I found them next to my dead phone. I slip them out of my bag and press the button to unlock by white BMW, and I open the door. I step one foot in the car and I hear someone say something behind me.
"Uu-h excuse me?" I turn around fast as my semi-long brown hair whips around my head and slaps my in the face. Not until I removed my hair from my face did I realized who was talking to me. He laughed at the expression on my face as I blinked a few times to make sure I was seeing correctly.
"Um, yea-ah?" I stutter to say as he laughs again. "Hi, you're Rylee, right?" He says and I nod my head.
"Oh, I'm Cameron, I moved in your neighborhood recently and my family and I haven't gotten a new license plate for my car, I guess our parent met earlier today? Anyways umm did you see my comment on Instagram?" He says and I can hear the nervous tone in his voice. Why in the world would he be nervous? I'm trying so hard to keep my shit.
"No, sorry my phone died once I got a notification, that was you?" I lie trying to act subtle so I run my run my right hand through my hair and rest my weight on my hip against my car.
"Yeah, I'm sorry this is awkward... your mom said you could give me a ride back to your place? I guess my parents are at your house. If you can't then I unders-" I cut him off, "Sure, hop in." I finally hop into my car and shut the door.
I see him making his was around the other side of the car and I quickly take the leftover apple and throw it out the window, and throw my two empty Starbucks cups in the back seat. He opens the door and gets in, and we both put on our seatbelts.
"So, what grade are you in?" He asks me.
"I'm a junior, you?" I act cool as I reverse the car out of my spot and start driving out of the parking lot filled with stressed students just waiting to get home for the weekend.
"I am too, I just started today," He smiles and I can almost see this white teeth glisten in the rear view mirror. He's so cute.
"Nice, well welcome to James Walker High. Home of shitty teachers and stoned students," I laugh and he does too. Our school isn't really that bad at all, it's just funny because people joke about it all the time.
We come to a red light and I take my phone out of my bag and plug it into charger hooked up to the cigarette lighter. We start talking about our classes, teachers, and our friend groups. He had a group of friends here in California anyways that went to James Walker so he knew a few people. My phone buzzes on as I pull into my neighborhood.
"What's your password?" He asks confidently. Who asks a girl for their phone password haha?
"Why do you want it," I laugh and he tells me he wants to hack my Instagram. I tell him okay and give him my password, 9926.
"Just don't delete or unfollow people hahah," It's not like I think he will, but it was still something I wanted to put out there. I hear the camera on my phone snap and a few taps indicating he was typing.
"What'd you say?" I asked him.
"Don't worry about it," He smirked at me and I gave him a funny look, as we pull into my driveway.
"Wow, this is where you live? My house is right there," He points to the house to the right of mine. Wow, we're going to be neighbors? Okay this is going to be interesting.
I grab my phone, and bag. I unruffle my shirt and step out of the car and slam it shut. I unlock my phone and click on Instagram and see what this Doof posted. I click my home page and wait for the picture to load. I tap on it and it's of him looking at the camera and an off guard photo of me looking at the road. The caption read, 'Ain't she pertyyy?' And he tagged himself.
I begin to smile down at my phone as I get a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of him smiling at me too. Suddenly, my notifications read, '167 likes, 92 follows, 31 comments', wow I didn't expect that. I click on his profile and I'm shocked to see this boy has 18.8 not thousand, but MILLION followers? Wow.
"What are you smiling at?" He asks, "You." I reply.
