Stiles twisted the key, quieting the ignition of his jeep. He was parked just a bit down the street from where Danny's party was taking place- which left him half a block from Dereks loft.
He wasn't really sure how this was working out exactly. Stiles knew Derek was home- he'd been in his bedroom. But if a party was taking place in his loft, maybe he hadn't stuck around, because there was no way he would agree to this is he was living there again.
His phone lit up as he pressed the home button, wondering if any of his friends had arrived yet. He'd texted Scott earlier, asking him if he wanted to tag along, and the True Alpha had jumped on the opportunity to invite Kira. Lydia had sounded kind of adverse to coming, but he figured that was because Aidan was there, because she never missed an opportunity of a good party. Isaac and Allison had seemed like they'd show up, and Stiles was 99% sure Ethan would be wherever Danny was. Hopefully this would be like a vacation for the whole gang, away from the crazy supernatural for just a night.
One night.
Stiles tried not to wonder how much could go wrong in one night.
A thud reverbrated through the still night as he got out of his jeep. It was typical weather for an October night, and the teen shivered, zipping up his red hoodie. The loft was down the street, but it was dark, so Stiles walked at a quick pace. Lately, all shadows jumped at him. He never knew what lurked in the dark.
There were no incidents on his walk, despite the constant jumpiness and his near heart attack when little delinquents dressed in costumes sprinted out of an ally. What parents let small children roam the streets of downtown Beacon Hills, on Halloween? Other than that, Stiles made it safely to Dereks loft.
Music spilled out onto the street, pulsing. He could more feel it, rather than hear it, as he jogged up the stairs to the loft. A deep bass rumbling, already making his heart pound and his stomach drop, the way that good music does.
Stiles slipped through the door, then let his jaw drop slightly. This wasnt a small party. This wasn't just a little Halloween swaray. This was huge-group-of-half-naked-glow-in-the-dark-teenagers, barely staying in the confines of appropriate dancing. His eyes wandered, from the DJ set up (he was assuming it was the The Bloody Beatroots, which was slightly impressive since he was rather famous) to the bodies on the cleared space of the room. Danny and the twins had really outdone themselves with the set up- blacklights played over the floor, lighting up the multi-colored splattered paint and illuminating everyones bodies, turning the loft into a fantasy and blues, acid greens, hot pinks and golds. Bare skin glistened as girls tossed their hair and boys ground their hips. Stiles could feel the pulsing energy as well as he could feel the beat.
This was a bad idea. The worst idea. How had he expected to be able to deal with this? There was so much movement. He felt like any minute his mind would play tricks on him and the fun party would turn into a massacre. He needed to leave.
He turned to go and bumped straight into a rather petite girl wearing a vividly glowing pink wig. She stepped back, rather obviously looked him up and down, then popped onto her toes to press her glowing lips to Stiles' cheek.
"Happy Halloween!" She said, smiling flirtatiously and weaving off into the crowd. Stiles was immediately after her. It wasn't all that often he had a chance at anyone- he'd been after Lydia so long, he hardly knew how to look elsewhere. Of course, there were the awkward almost-crushes on the side. Maybe liking Heather when he was younger, and the constant internal argument on if he just found Derek Hale attractive or if he had a crush. Either way, everything supernatural in Beacon Hills seemed set on keeping him single, so this positive sign from the pink haired girl was something he had to jump on.
