Chapter 15: Unlucky

Avi stared at mitch jaw dropped with a tear running down his face at the sound of mitch in desperate pain.

'Av......Avi....i..*sniff*...i cant feel my legs...*sniff*"

Avi in a sudden rush, ran over to mitch and picked up mitch bridal stlye.

Mitch started to cry even more watching his own legs move around. Its a scary thing having control over your legs to instantly not feeling them at all...

"Dont you worry baby theres a hospital near here i know exactly where to go it'll be ok, please just hang in there *sniff* Avi struggled out.

Avi was an emotional wreck. He hated this.

He rushed towards the nearest hospital with the emotionally broken mitch in arms. Those flashbacks flashed in his mind with every couple of steps he took.

He remembered this was the same hospital they were at before.

Mitch was too shocked to even concentrate on anything else. He stared at his legs through his watery eyes.

"I cant feel...my legs..." Mitch kept repeating...

Each time he said it his grip kept getting tighter and his voice kept getting weaker.

"I know baby...i know. Stay with me okay?

Avi's feet hurt like a bitch being barefoot running on wet concrete but, he had to push through.

The rain didn't stop, it only got worse...

Avi ran as fast he could at this point and after a minute of non stop running he could see the hospital insight.

"Were almost there baby it'll be ok."

Avi could feel mitch grab ahold of his shirt and clutch it tight.

They rushed through the parking lot of the hospital and nearly got hit by and on coming car but avi saw it in time to ove out of the way and rush on towards the front doors.

Running up to the front desk, he saw the two ladies from before. He remembered making that face towards one of them and holding two thumbs up.

She instantly looked up and her mouth dropped.

"Oh my goodness honey! Somebody bring me a gurney fast!"

"Avi im scared...." Mitch continued, mitch's tears came running down like a waterfall.

"I know baby *sniffle* you'll be ok i promise." Avi tried his best to hold back his tears until the doctors came out to take mitch away.

After a quick minute a couple of men in hospital attire came out with a gurney and with it a heart monitor with a bunch of tubes.

"Please set him on here sir." The doctors said rushing out to avi. Avi did as he was told and watched as mitch was being taken away for medical prep.

Avi stood there for a second in complete shock still trying to comprehend all of this...

Realaizing he still wanted to see mitch he saw the doors closing and he could see mitch's gurney getting thinner and thinner through the cracks of the door.

"Mitchie....." Avi said quietly with a tear running down his face.

Avi felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see it was the nurse from before.

"Everything will be ok the doctors know what they're doing." Without hesitation avi pulled her in for a hug hoping she was right.

They released the hug and walked towards a couple of chairs in the waiting room and sat down. The nurse started to ask questions on what happened, when it happened, how it happened, everything. As she did that she pulled out a pad of paper and a pen to record everything that happened.

Avi did as he was told and the nurses face grew more suprised with every detail avi had told.

The nurse said "Unbelievable..." as she stood there looking at what she had just wrote down.

She looked up at avi with a shocked face.

"Is the body still there?"

Avi nodded in agreement not wanting to say anything more in fear that he couldn't hold his composer if he said another thing depressing.

"Ok honey we'll contact the police and get that taken care of you just stay here and try to be as calm as you can. Everything will be just fine."

The nurse got up from her seat and walked towards the front desk and motioned the other nurse to call the police.

Avi sat there looking at the ground, holding his hands together as tight as he could. Possibly a phsyical manifestation of how he was trying to keep himself together.

Falling apart is the last thing mitch needs to see.

A couple of long, grueling hours have past.

Avi's mind started to play tricks on him...Anxiety.

'He wont be ok you know...'

'What if he's dead already from shock?....'

Avi started to cry while he grasped his head trying to make the voices stop.

They just got louder and louder....Avi whispered to himself, "Stop....pleeeass stop." Trying to fight back as many tears as he could.

"Mr.kaplan correct?..."

Avi's thoughts stopped as he looked up to see ome of the doctors that carried him in earlier was standing in fron of him.

Avi wiped the dry and wet tears from his face.

"Um..ya, ya"

Avi stood up to be eye level with the doctor, as avi soon realized that was a bad desicion... Avi's legs wobbled and grew weak at the doctors next words...

"Well...sir...our patient mitch is paralyzed from the waist down...We examined his body and found blunt trauma to his right temple and from that trauma, it caused a sudden stop to his lower body. We do not know how long this will last....it could be a couple days...or maybe years."
