{Viktor's P.O.V}

It's been 7 years. I tried to ignore the fact that it's in my family's blood, but it hurts now. It hurts when I urinate and my fingers feel numb from time to time. I also observed that I have a hard time getting an erection, which is really getting on my nerves. I woke up extra early today, as to not wake my husband up. I do my usual morning routine and ended up cooking some bacon for Yuuri. I set an appointment yesterday, when he was asleep. I'm going to see my doctor today. Our family doctor. I hope it isn't too late yet..

(Edward White Hospital, 9:10am)

I walked in the door of my family doctor's room.  Dr. Koshechkin Panteley Petrov, a 58 year old Onconologist, greeted me with a worried look. My father came here when I was just 11, just 32 years ago, with my father having the age of 43. I sat down and looked to the floor. "So, Mr. Nikiforov, what brings you here? I doubt you just came to say hello." He said in his calm voice. "I did not." I said with a solemn voice. "I... uhm... I think I have uhm... The same sickness my father did." I said with a straight face. "Why do you say so?" Dr. Petrov asked. "I have blood in my urine, I feel numb, and I have a hard time getting an erection. It hurts when I urinate as well." I said and looked down at the floor. "How long have you been feeling this?" He asked. "Almost 7 years already." He suddenly shot up from his chair. He noticed he was standing, and sat back down again. "May we examine you?" He asked.

(5 hours later)

DRE, biopsy, x-rays, CT and/or MRI scans, and bone scans. All of this just to examine my body. I'm still waiting for the results but I guessed it. I have prostate cancer, just like my father did. At least, that's what I think. Later, Dr. Dmitrievna called me in. "Mr Nikiforov, I..." He paused for a while and sighed. I looked at him with hope in my eyes, hoping that my guess wasn't true. "You have Prostate Cancer." He replied in a sad voice that showed sympathy. "You're on Stage IV. Just so you know, this stage describes any tumor that has spread to other parts of the body, such as the bladder, rectum, bone, liver, lungs, or lymph nodes. M1b, actually." He said solemnly. "Uhm, mind me but what IS M1b?" I asked him, hoping it's better that than stage 4, "It means it has spread to your bones, Mr Nikiforov." Crap. So that's why I can't move as much as I could. I thought it was only my age but, that was a sign too? "Mr. Nikiforov." He called to me. I can hear him, but not clear enough. I was too deep into my thoughts. "Viktor." I looked up. "You have 3 options. Surgery, Radiation Therapy, or we can start with the basics, Chemotherapy." I need something that Yuuri won't notice, something that won't make him worry. "C-Chemotherapy... What is that?" I asked him. "It refers to the use of medicines or drugs to treat cancer. The usual side effect is that your hair will thin because the drug used, called docetaxel, is very strong." He explained slowly.
