(This is more of a sneak peek into the story to give you an idea of the back-story. Next chapter and pretty much the whole book is going to actually be in Eleanora's point of view. Enjoy!)
The war between the Hamish and Carbonnel kingdoms was seemingly coming to an end after 5 years of feuding over territory. King Arthur Hamish's army had begun to win almost every battle within the last few months, resulting in taking over more of the rival kingdom's land. After another successful battle, King Arthur decided to return to his kingdom. His daughter, Eleanora, had been awaiting his return daily for over a month, praying for his safety on the battlefield. The day the King arrived back to the castle was the same day of her 17th birthday. King Arthur watched as she appeared at the large doors at the front of the castle. As he walked towards her, his heart began to fill with pride. Eleanora was almost the spitting image of her now deceased mother. From the dark brown curls that sat messily around her shoulder, to her gold and green- flecked brown eyes that always seemed to show every emotion and yet reveal nothing at all. She stood with regal confidence, however if you caught her at just the right moment a humble gentleness would shine through. Although the king noticed all this, he not once allowed his pride to show. He approached Eleanor with a calm indifference, almost disdain.
"Good day, Father," Eleanora greeted. She curtsied, lifting up the bottom of her dress and revealing a peek of her scuffed riding boots underneath.
The king brushed past her. "Your shoes are filthy, Eleanora. Could you not have changed into something more presentable to greet me?" Without waiting for a response, King Arthur wandered off to his quarter to prepare himself for the dinner feast.

A/N: Just so you know, the king isn't a complete douche bag, he's just kind of trying to build Eleanora into a hard woman, but he is just going about it the wrong way.
