CHAPTER ONE: Fateful Meeting

Ah Yeon's P.O.V

"Ah Yeon-ah, wake up or else your going to be late." my mom shouted.
"Arasseo, umma." I shouted back.
Slowly I got up and sat on my bed half asleep. "I don't want to go to school."
I whined in my head. Slowly I fell asleep again.

I could hear someone calling me. 
"Ah Yeon-ah, you're late, wake up now." my mom said and shook me. "Just 5 more minutes." I mumbled. "No, wake up now. It's your first day of school after summer break and you can't be late again like always.
You only have 15 minutes till the bus is coming." my mom said and went downstairs. "15 minutes ?! Oh no, I'm going to be late again." I said and ran to the bathroom.

*Hi, my name is Kim Ah Yeon. I'm 17 years old. I live with my mom and brother, Kim Hyun Jin. As you can see I'm always running late for school. It's already part of my normal life...Well, not really normal. I have a special ability no one knows of. I can see lies. If someone is lying their eye color turns blue. I don't know why I have this ability but I was born with it.*

The bus is gone. "Oh no, my bus. Guess I have to run." As I was running down the street, I saw a group of girls with blue eyes. "You look so beautiful in your uniform." "No, you look more beautiful and that bag is so cute." "Thank you, my dad brought it for me." The girls said while smiling. *sigh* "Liars." I thought.
"Why can't people just say the truth? I mean it is for their best. If someone looks ugly in their outfit, you should say it or else that person is going to embarrass herself. You don't have to be so direct, at least it's the truth."

As I was deep in thought, I bumped against someone and fell on the ground. "Sorry, are you okay?" a boy asked. I looked up and saw a beautiful, handsome face.
"I..I'm okay.." I said and was captured by his gaze. We were staring at each other until I blushed and stood up. "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention...Well I'm going now." I said and ran away. "What an interesting girl." the boy said and smiled.

I arrived at my high school and ran to my class. I calmed down and opened the back door slowly. I peeped inside and saw that my teacher was writing something on the board. "That's my chance." I quietly tiptoed to my seat at the windows. "Ms. Kim Ah Yeon, you never change do you." my teacher said and smiled. "He he...I'm sorry, Mrs. Park." I said and bowed my head. "It's okay, I already got used to it since I teached you for 2 years.
Now go to your seat." Mrs. Park said.
I went to my seat and sat down.
My best friend Hye Jin who is sitting before me, turned around and said: "As expect of you to come late even tho it's the first day of school after summer break." "Yah! It's not my fault." I defended myself.
"Then who's fault is it? A pretty boy who caught you attention, so you were running late?" Hye Jin said sarcastically. "Yes, it is." I said.
"Yah! Don't lie, you never were interested in boys. Also there aren't pretty boys here." Hye Jin said and turned around. "I'm saying the truth." I whispered.

"Okay, class. Attention. You have a new student starting today, it's only temporary but be nice to him."
Mrs. Park said. "Come in and introduce yourself." Everybody looked to the door. Slowly someone tall and very handsome came in.
"Hye Jin...it's that guy who I was talking about." I said while staring at him. "No way, he's the guy who stole your heart?" Hye Jin asked. "Yah! He didn't stole my heart." I said but Hye Jin didn't listen to me because his appearance made her speechless.
"Hi, my name is Jeon Jungkook, I'm 18 years old. I'm only staying here for a few months but I hope we can get along well." he said and smiled charmingly. "He has such a sweet voice." I thought. I could hear all the girls squealing and talking, even the boys were speechless by his handsomeness. "Okay, Jungkook. You can take the empty seat at the back." Mrs. Park said and began her lesson.

Jungkook walked slowly to his seat. All the girls were staring at him and whispering. The empty seat is behind my seat. As he was heading to his seat, he saw me and we made eye contact. He stopped right before my seat, gazed at me and smiled. Then he went to his seat and sat down. My heart was beating fast and I felt hot.
"Calm down, my heart. Why are you beating so fast?" I thought and tried to calm down, but my heart was beating faster again as I remember the smile he gave me. It felt as we were in our own world and everything sparkled. His smile and gaze gave me a beautiful, warm feeling I felt through my body.

Even after the lesson, I could only think about him. Currently it's break time and only me and Hye Jin were in class. "Hello, Kim Ah Yeon. Are you listening?" Hye Jin said and slapped me lightly on my shoulder.
"What? What is it?" I said as I was taken back. "Don't 'what' me, you missed Mrs. Park lesson and wasn't really listening ." Hye Jin said. "What is wrong with you? Where is the girl who is always raising her hands in class? Just because you are lovestruck, doesn't mean you can neglect your responsibilities." Hye Jin said teasingly.
"Yah! Jang Hye Jin, I'm not lovestruck. I was just..thinking." I said while avoiding her eyes. "Yeah, sure thinking." Hye Jin said. "Isn't it because you were in awe because of Jungkook's handsomeness?"
"No, it's definitly not. And also if he has the look, I bet that's all he got. He doesn't even look very smart and athletic."
I said jockingly.

At that moment Jungkook entered the class room. Hye Jin and I were surprised and we were staring at him. "He didn't hear what I said, did he?"
I whispered. "I don't think so.." Hye Jin said insecure. Jungkook was in the way to his seat. I swallowed nervously.
As he was next to my seat, he stopped and looked at me. I avoided his gaze. "What was your name again?" he asked. "Ah Yeon, Kim Ah Yeon."
I answered. "Ah Yeon...Yeon-ah." he said and smiled. "I'm gonna remember this name." Jungkook went to his seat, grabbed his bag and went out. Hye Jin and I looked at each other. "Did he just call me Yeon-ah?"
I asked. "Well, I guess it's your nickname from him. But put that aside, did he just left school like that! He only had one lesson." Hye Jin said. "I guess he isn't really a good person, I mean he's skipping school on his first day. You should give up on him. He's bad influence for you." Hye Jin said. "How many times do I have to tell you I'm not in love with him!" I said and hit her. "Yah! How can you hit me, I'm older than you." Hye Jin scolded me. "Sorry, UNNIE." I said sarcastically.

The lesson began and Mr. Choice checked the attendance list. "Jeon Jungkook." Mr. Choi said, but nobody answered. "Does anyone know where Jungkook is?" but nobody knew.
"Well then, let's begin." I couldn't stop thinking about Jungkook. His voice still ringed in my head.
"Yeon-ah...Yeon-ah....". As I recalled the situation I realized. "Hye Jin, I think Jungkook heard our conversation. What should we do?" I asked. "I'm not doing anything since it was you who 'insulted' him." Hye Jin said.
"I wouldn't say 'insulted', I was just jocking and what kind if best friend are you leaving me alone in this situation." I said.
"Sometimes we have to sacrifice something in order to achieve something big. And that something is you." Hye Jin laughed and turned around. "What nonsense are talking about?" I laughed. "Good luck." Hye Jin said. "What should I do?" I thought.

Jungkook's P.O.V

I walked to the class room as I heard two girls talking and saying my name. I peeped inside and eavesdropped them.
"Yah! Hye Jin, I'm not lovestruck. I was just..thinking." One girl said. "Yeah, sure just thinking. Isn't it because you were in awe of Jungkook's handsomeness?" another girl said. "Oh, it's the girl from this morning. Was her name Ah Yeon?"
I thought. "No, it's definitely not. And also if he has the look, I bet it's all he got. He doesn't even look very smart and athletic." she said. I chuckled and smiled.

My phone rang. "Sir." I said. "I'm on my way." I said and went into the class room. I had to suppress my laughter because their faces looked so funny as if they were caught doing something forbidden. I stopped at her seat. "What was your name again?"
I asked. "Ah Yeon, Kim Ah Yeon." she answered nervously. "Ah Yeon...Yeon-ah." I said and smiled. "I'm gonna remember this name."
I went to my seat and grabbed my bag. As I went out if the class room, I looked at her face again. "Hopefully this isn't the last time I see your beautiful face."
I thought and ran outside where a car is waiting for me. I putted on my seatbelt and looked back at the school. "Wish me luck, Yeon-ah." I thought.
