Amara
Thursday night, I'm at the club with Jesse, Tiana and Randy. Everyone's doing shots, except for me.
"Come on, Amara!" Tiana encourages. "Just do one!"
I shake my head furiously. "No!"I exclaim. "I have work tomorrow!"
"So what?" Randy says. "Just pull a sickie - that's what I'm doing." He takes another shot and I just watch him.
"I like him!" Jesse says. "If you were gay, you'd be in trouble!" We all burst out laughing. Jesse holds out a shot glass. "Amara! Amara! Amara!" he starts chanting, encouraging me. Randy and Tiana both join him and I just shake my head and laugh, taking the shot and downing it. They start cheering.
A couple of shots later, I'm drunk and Tiana, Jesse and Randy are all dancing together. I break away from the crowd and head in the direction of the bathroom, making sure I don't trip over my own feet.
I grab my phone from my bag and call Abel. He picks up at the first ring. "Hey, babyyyyyy," I slur.
"Mara, are you drunk?" Abel chuckles.
"Yup!" I say happily. "I'm very, very drunk, but sshhhh, don't tell anyone!" Abel chuckles again and I start to get a deep feeling of lust for him. "Abel, I'm so horny right now. Come and pick me up, so I can jump on that d-" My words get cut off by a hiccup.
Abel laughs. "Okay," he says. 'I'll be there in ten."
"You better hurry," I say and end the call. I groan at my sudden hunger for him.
"There you are!" Tiana exclaims. "Come and dance with me."
"No, I'm waiting for Abel," I say, swatting her away.
Tiana looks around. "And he's not here yet!" she says. "Come on!"
I let her drag me back to the dance floor and we dance for a good ten minutes. My feet start to ache, so I make my over to the chairs and sit down.
"Hey," a voice says from behind. I turn and focus hard, trying to work out who this person is. I finally make out Randy smiling at me. He looks like he's going to pass out.
"Hey," I say lightly.
Randy slumps into the seat beside me. He looks at me and we burst out laughing for some unknown reason. "Where's your boyfriend?" he asks.
"Oh, he's coming to pick me up," I tell him. "The other day I went to meet his -"
My words are cut off when Randy smashes his lips against mine. I stay frozen, not being able to move. He pulls back and I look at him wide-eyed before catching sight of someone glaring at us. Abel. Oh shot, oh shit. That must've looked bad. I mean, I didn't even pull away, but I was too shocked to. Surely Abel will understand right?
I get up and run after Abel who is exiting the club. "Abel!" I shout. "Abel! Please wait! That's not what it looked like, I swear!"
Abel spins around, face like thunder. "Then what was it?" he snaps causing my blood to run cold. "Because it looked like you wanted to kiss him. You didn't even pull away, Amara!"
"I - I was shocked!" I exclaim. "I wanted to pull away but I just froze! I didn't know what to do!"
"Just shut up and get in the car," Abel says through gritted teeth and i do as I'm told.
On the way to his loft, Abel doesn't speak to me at all. Instead, his eyes just stay focused on the road and his jaw is clenched.
I try to reach over to touch his shoulder, but he pulls away. I huff and roll my eyes. I don't know why he's acting so childish - I mean, it's not like I kissed Randy back. I lean back against the seat and just look out the window until we arrive at his loft.
