Ivy
I don't blame Shelby for going to the restroom, but I do blame Gal for leaving me alone so she and Jay can grope each other on the dance floor. Tonight was supposed to be girl's night, and she knows how uncomfortable I feel in crowds.
I play with my phone until I feel someone's gaze on me. Probably Shelby heading back to the table, thank god.
I look up at the balcony of the second floor of the bar.
Well, fuck me.
That's definitely not Shelby.
The dickhead from Argo's Gym, Finn, has the decency to look embarrassed that I caught him eyeing me. I feel a shock of pride run through me. Except now he's walking down, and his eyes never leave mine.
Finn
I walk up to her table with my hands raised, my white flag. I'm buzzed enough that our previous encounters seem funny to me, but judging by her narrowed eyes, she doesn't feel the same way.
"You planning on throwing that drink at my face," I ask.
"Not as long as you don't mow my table down," she says with a smirk.
"We've been talking for a whole thirty seconds and no one's been injured. Pretty good for us I'd say. Uh, I'm Finn by the way."
"Hmm...I've been calling you 'dickhead' in my mind," she smirks again, "I'm Ivy."
I roll my eyes but bite the inside of my cheek to suppress a smile.
"Really? Because I call you Rude Girl." Her mouths gapes but then she smiles.
Truthfully, I like her name. I don't know her, but I know it's a fitting name.
"Ivy? Like Poison Ivy," I tease.
"So, Ivy, how do you know Galeria?"
"She's my roommate. And...my best friend," she says simply.
Best friend? What are the chances that this girl is messing around with her best friend's boyfriend?
"You must know Jay then," I say.
"Blagh," she rolls her eyes almost reflexively, but her eyes widen when she notices my straight face.
"Shit. He's a friend of yours, isn't he?"
I laugh at her reaction. "More like we have mutual friends. He's definitely not my favorite person."
This Ivy girl definitely isn't a fan of Jay's either, so I doubt there's anything going on there. Still...
"Shelby, thank god," Ivy jumps off her seat and I turn to around to see Shelby standing next Mitch.
"Hey, sorry. Line was long, then I got lost, and um, I met Mitch," she points to my roommate who smiles down at Shelby.
Okay. I guess this is happening.
"Ah, I see you two have officially met," she says. Mitch looks from Shelby to Ivy before giving me a questioning look.
"Remember that girl from Argo's? The one who, uh, punched me...and hit me with the door," I nudge my head in Ivy's direction. She waves to Mitch.
"I'm Ivy," she says.
"Cool to meet you. Small world, huh," Mitch says.
"Ivy and Shelby are friends with Jay's girlfriend," I tell him and his eyes widen as he looks around the room.
