I'd like to take a moment to send a shout out to jadewolf334 for the strange wolfs name. Thank you so much!! And I would like to say, there's a lot of plans for sage, and a lot of plans for another book... But you guys can wait for more info about that lol.

:On with the Chapter:

The large grey wolf looked at me calmly. No sign of aggression in his body position or tone of voice. I eyed him suspiciously though

"Come on.." He said, taking a small step closer. "One bite?"

"Who are you?"

"Cinder" he replied smoothly. "And you are?"

"I cannot tell you" I lifted my muzzle to tilt my head upward.

"I understand." He nodded. I widened my eyes as he lowered his head and averted his gaze for a slight second.

No one has ever shown me respect. Not my litter mates, not my father, not even the lower ranks. This clearly was a sign of respective submission.

He regarded me with a smile playing on his lips. I didn't detect any sort of menacing features about him or his posture, and his charm was, well, charming. So I smiled back, but kept my positive, tall stance.
Realizing he still wanted a bite, I leaned forward to my meal and ripped it in half.

"Here." I threw the chunk of meat to Cinder.

"Thank you... But I was actually trying to get to know you." He offered a small wag to his tail.

"Okay then." I replied quietly.

"Why are you out here alone?" He asked.

"I was separated from my pack..."

"How?"

"The rouges."

He nodded and looked into my eyes. I saw a spark and knew, right there and then that he would help me. Deep down I knew I could trust him and trust that he'd always keep me safe.

"What is your name?" His voice was calming.

"Mnn" I mumbled, taking a step back. My name is my identity.

"Come now. A beautiful Varg such as yourself would likely have a name more beautiful than any Lera in the land."

I smiled down at the ground. "S-Sage." I whispered.

Stepping closer to me, he bent down and put his nose under my maw. He then gently lifted my head up to meat his eyes.

"Sage." He repeated. My name seemed to roll off his tongue in a smooth matter. "And how, Sage, did a beautiful young wolf, such as yourself, take down a full grown bull elk?"

"I need to survive. He was an old elk anyways. I just happened to see his potential and his weakness."

"Interesting." He said. His brilliant dark green/yellow eyes bore deep into my own amber optics.

The situation seemed slightly uncomfortable for me, considering I'm not used to this treatment. I gave a slight whine and backed up slightly.

"What's wrong?" He asked, stepping closer again.

"I-It's just... I'm not u-used to this.."

I flinched as he placed his head on top of my own. Then he gently pushed downward, causing me to first sit, then lay down beside him. I curled my tail around myself, as he laid down in front and nearly on top of me.

"What a-are you doing?" I asked.

"Shh." Was his only response.

His neck was all I saw, as I felt him begin to examine the back of my own. Realizing my scars were still likely there, I began to shy away from him. But he only grabbed my scruff and carefully pulled me closer than I was before.
