I bursted into the barn the next morning with Digit and Justin both giving me curious looks. I walked to the side of Justin's stall finding a wooden wagon. It looked like a wooden crate with two poles coming out the front for the horse to harness on to. It also a high seat at the front for the driver. I smiled knowing my plan was going to work perfectly. I grabbed the cart and dragged it outside to the side of the barn and grabbed the grooming bucket and groomed Justin.

After I hitched Justin up to the wagon I ran inside the barn grabbing the saddle, bridal, saddle pad, grooming bucket, and a bale of hay and threw it into the wagon than ran inside the cabin grabbing the rest of the cans and a knife. Just in case. I climbed up into the wagon along with Digit. I took one last look back at the cabin an barn. Imaging one last time what this place would've been like without the charred wood, ash, green sky, dead trees, grass and life. I sighed sadly as I flicked the reins and clicked my tongue.

The wagon jerked forward as Justin started walking on the dirt road that lead to the village. The plan was to head into the village to look for food, hay, dog food, clothes, and either find someone to explain to me what happened or figure out what happened.

On the dirt road everything was dead. It looked like a black desert from all the ash sitting in the grassy field. Rocks were black along with bushes and trees. It looked like there had been an explosion of some sort, but as I got closer to the village I saw something strange. Every house was turned into a pile of burnt ash, wood, and brick with smoke still coming from all the disasters except for one. It looked old and abandoned, some bricks were in messy piles on the ground and some were barley hanging on. The closer the wagon got to the building I suddenly noticed that the strips of metal were spaced out leaving out space to see the inside of the building.

I jumped down from the wagon slowly leading Justin to as close as the building that he could get without stepping on the bricks. I peered in through the evenly spaced strips of metal. The house looked empty and most of the inside was burnt but it just about looked livable if the upper floors were able to hold its weight.

I wrapped the reins around a exploded car in the street and walked inside the house slowly hearing the creeks and groans of the burnt floor. Digit following my lead slowly walking into the house and sniffing around for anything suspicious.

I walked quietly into the living room seeing a cracked t.v. sitting in front of a couch's remains. Behind the couch was a wall with more metal striping across it. The wallpaper that used to rest on the walls was now debris that flew around the house whenever a light breeze would come through the walls. Not all the bricks on the house had collapsed, a lot of them were still standing and blocking the wind from coming in. The walls that divided the house were burnt but still standing. I walked into the bedroom and looked through the closets only find mens shirts and jeans that had no possible was of fitting me. I looked around the room a bad feeling settling in the pit of my stomach. I walked around the house but couldn't find anything useful or anything that considered to be a threat.

I shrugged the feeling off and walked back into what I guessed used to be a kitchen on a mission to find any type of food in a can. The reason I'm only looking for cans is because the food in the cans don't go bad as fast as the non can foods. Looking in every cabinet and drawer resulted in finding all different kinds of canned foods. I was about to take one out when digit started barking at the entrance. I quickly walked to the door an gasped at what Digit was barking at.

Off in the distance about a mile away was a wall of black dust heading this way. I ran to the wagon grabbing the bale of hay an threw it behind a wall I knew would block the dust and than grabbed the five cans in the wagon throwing them in the cabinet with the rest of the canned foods. The dust wall was getting closer I knew I had to react fast. I unhitched Justin from the wagon and led him with the long reins into the house. When we got to the door he was a little hesitant but when he saw me walked through the door and into the house he than soon followed. I quickly walked into the bedroom where I found the men's clothes and pushed the bed to the wall.

"Digit come!" I yelled as I noticed that he was still barking at the door. He ran straight into the room and as I shut the door the dust hit. The door was violently shaking, scaring Justin and Digit. I led Justin over to the bed a pushed it blocking the door. The door stopped rattling and Digit stopped barking all that you could hear was the whistling of the wing. I unclipped the reins from the bridal and hung them over the closet door handle.

I looked around the room noticing that there wasn't much to look at. There was a bed, a dresser, and a portrait of a sun setting an a beautiful beach. I walked over to the bed an sat down looking at Justin an Digit. Panic and worry spread through me as I began to think about how in the hell I was gonna be able to take care of Digit and Justin. I sighed and sat on the bed getting deep into my thoughts.
