Louraine
Tahimik lang ako habang nasa hapag kainan dahil kanina pa ko natutuliro sa kakatitig sa akin ni Yuean. Kapag mapapatingin ako sakaniya, nahuhuli ko naman siyang nakatingin sa akin. Itinuon ko nalang ang atensiyon ko sa pagkain habang sila ay maingay na nagkukwentuhan. As usual, kapag magkakasama ang magkakapatid na Montesalve, hindi talaga tatahimik ang isang lugar.
"How are you and Ian nga pala bes?" Biglang tanong ni Hazel sa akin. We sometimes call each other before at kahit papaano ay close din sila ni Ian. Biglang nanahimik ang hapag kainan na para bang inaabangan nila ang sasabihin ko. Ugh! Binigyan ko ng masamang tingin si Hazel na sinuklian lang ako ng ngisi.
"We're fine. We call each other from time to time." Pormal na sagot ko. Hindi ko alam kung bakit hindi ko masabi na wala namang namamagitan sa amin. Hindi din ako makahanap ng dahilan kung bakit kailangan kong sabihin pero kasi...
"Who's that Ian guy? Does he know that I'm courting you?" Biglang tanong ni Yuean at nagulat naman ako ng mabilaukan si Charles sa tabi ko. Binigyan ko siya agad ng tubig at tinapik tapik ang likod niya.
"You're courting her?!" Medyo malakas na aniya at mukhang gulat din ang mga kapatid niya.
"Yup. Why? Hindi naman sila nung Kian o kung sino man ang lalaking iyon." Aniya at nagulat naman ako. Paano niya nalaman?
Gusto kong magsalita pero walang lumalabas sa bibig ko. C'mon! Hindi dapat ako papatalo sakaniya! If he keeps on doing this act baka...baka ako lang ang mahirapan. He's not good for me.
"I'll go ahead guys. May usapan kami ni Ian na mags-skype." I didn't know what had gotten into me that made me say that to everyone. I can just say that I'm full or I want to rest, but somehow gusto kong marinig niya.
Mabilis akong umalis doon at dumiretso sa kwarto ko. Binuksan ko ang laptop at agad kong nakita si Ian na online. I accepted his call at bumungad sa akin ang mukha niya.
"Hey." I greeted him and let out a sigh.
"What's the problem?" He asked. As usual, alam niya nanaman kung kalian ako may problema sa wala. He's always like this. Minsan talaga gustong gusto ko siyang mahalin. He's perfect. Mabait, matalino, may pinag-aralan at mapagmahal. But whenever I try to level up my feelings for him, kahit na hanap hanapin ko yung pakiramdam na iyon tuwing kasama ko siya, palaging wala. He's the brother I never had.
"I love you Ian." I told him and tried to find that giddy feeling but it never came. He smiled at me. "I'm sorry." I said.
"Don't force yourself babe. Naiintindihan kita." He said with a forced smile.
"I miss you. Kailan ka uuwi dito?" I asked him as a tear escaped my eyes. I don't know. Maybe because I have no one right now. I know that I have Hazel but somehow, asawa niya na ang kapatid ni Yuean and not that I don't trust her pero mahirap na. They have their own problems too.
"I'm trying to take a leave but my boss won't let me I'm sorry babe." He said. "So...how are you? I mean, now that you saw him. At nags-stay pa kayo sa isang beach house." He asked me. But it's a bit strange that I no longer saw that...jealousy I used to see before everytime I mention his name.
"I don't understand myself anymore." I honestly told him.
Then he suddenly looked...preoccupied. Para bang tuliro siya na hindi ko maipaliwanag. "Is there a problem?" I asked him. He looked at another direction and his eyes suddenly widened.
"I...I'll call again babe. I'll just h-handle som-shit!" Then a call ended. Napatulala naman ako sa screen ng laptop ko.
"Looks like he's hiding a girl in his pad." Someone said that shocked me. Agad ko namang sinara ang laptop at nilingon siya.
"You don't have to care about our relationship Montesalve." I told him and faced him. "Why are you in my room? Ni hindi ka nakatok." Naiinis na aniya ko sakaniya na ngumisi lang sa akin.
"Why does the name Ian irritates my system cupcake?" He asked and I was taken aback when he came to me closer. Umatras naman ako dahil parang hindi ako makahinga kapag malapit sya.
"I don't know. That's your feelings not mine." I said and pushed him to the door. "Go out Yuean please." I said. Hindi ko alam pero parang sobrang lalim ng iniisip niya. Finally he gave up and went out. Nakahinga naman ako ng maluwag nang mahiga ako sa kama.
"You have to stop yourself Louraine please..." I told myself as I breathe in and out trying to not cry.
Suddenly someone entered my room at agad akong napadilat dahil baka si Yuean nanaman iyon. "Sabi nang wa-Charles. A-anong ginagawa mo dito?" I asked. Umayos ako ng upo sa kama at umupo din naman siya sa tabi ko.
"Looks like someone already came here before me hmm?" Pang-asar niya at wala na akong nagawa kundi irapan siya.
"Whatever Charles. Bakit ka ba nandito? Bored ka?" I asked him. Suddenly he laid beside me at tinitigan ako ng mabuti.
"Yuean...he really can't remember you if you're wondering." He suddenly said. Napataas naman ang kilay ko sa sinabi niya.
So he really forgot about me?
"Bakit mo sinasabi ito sa akin?" I asked him na nakatingin lang sa kawalan.
"I know how he's been a jerk before. I saw how he hurted you. I felt your pain because you're the sister I never had before we had Mylene but I know my brother Louraine. He's been through a lot and I don't want you two to be a waste." Aniya at umupo para makapantay ako.
"Wala nang pag-asa kung ano man kami Charles because it's all in the past. I've moved on." I told him also trying to convince myself.
"I know you, also your actions are telling me otherwise Louraine. Your eyes speaks what's in your heart." He said. Tumayo na siya at naglakad papalabas pero lumingon muna siya sa akin.
"The doctors told us that he was mentioning your name before he died. Then 13 hours later, he woke up shocking the shit out of us. It's a miracle that he survived actually. And it's still a mystery to us why he still can't remember only you." He said. Napakunot naman ang nuo ko sa sinasabi niya.
"What are you trying to say?" I irritatingly asked. Bakit? Bakit kailangan niyang sabihin lahat ng ito? Now that I've moved on?
Moved on? Dream on Louraine. Keep lying to yourself.
"What I'm trying to say is that you're facing the new Yuean right now. No memories of you, no fake words, no fake actions, no fake intentions, no guilt, just a new Yuean who seems to be falling again for you for the second time around." He lastly said and went out.
