"Oh my gosh. Is that her?"
"I wonder if he knows that she is here."
"Of course not. They despise each other. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't illegal they would have killed each other."
"Someone quickly phone Mr Jenkins."
"Here comes my entertainment for the day."
"How can she be the daughter of William Jenkins?"
I took off my black shaded glasses as I arrived at the front desk and flashed the woman behind it a smile. The woman with the name tag, Emma, "Emma is it?" I asked as I began to tap my fingers against the clear counter.
The woman's eyes widened before nodding her head, "yes Ma'am."
"Perfect." I answered, "can you please get a message to my Father to say that I need a quick word with him."
Emma, nodded her head in a rushed action before typing away on her computer and then shakily grabbed the black phone next to her. During this movement she had managed to knock over the grey pot that was filled with pens, the movement caused me to bite my lip in order to not let out a laugh.
"Mr Jenkins? Yes I know you are busy, sir. Yes- yes, sir I know. There is someone here to see you-" Emma stuttered however I could tell that my Father was having none of it.
I held my hand out towards Emma and signalled for her to hand me the phone. Emma looked panicked however she handed over the phone to me where I caught my Father's rambling.
"Father, it's me." I spoke clearly as I inspected my black painted nails that I had got done yesterday when I was shopping in London.
Father coughed slightly, "Katherine, what do I owe the pleasure of this phone call considering we have a meeting in a few minutes?"
A ghost of a smile appeared on my face, "I have some very interesting news about Mr Sykes."
"Not again, Katherine." Father sighed causing the smile to fall from my face and Emma to give me a questioning look however I ignored it, "we have been through this. Mr Sykes is a very nice man," I rolled my eyes at his choice of words.
"His father maybe. The son, hell no." I muttered as I tapped my fingers on the counter once again.
"Can you please sort these differences out before the meeting in New York. We all need to be on our best behaviour and by we I mean you and the young Mr Nathan Sykes." Father pleaded.
I closed my eyes and took a short intake of breath. "I promise that I will try and behave. However I will not stop myself from saying something if he says something." I muttered as I opened my eyes again and saw someone I hated more than life itself, walk through the revolving doors. Hopefully he will get stuck in them.
"Come upstairs for the meeting, Katherine." Father said before hanging up.
I handed the phone back over to Emma without glancing in her direction as Satan himself walked up to me with a teasing smirk plastered on his face. Oh how much I wish I could wipe it from him- "Katherine. Darling, isn't this a lovely surprise." He called out loudly, gaining the attention of others. Not like we didn't have the attention anyway, whenever we were in distance of each other people would always stare as we may sometimes cause a bit of a disruption. He starts it.
