Amina's P.O.V-
I shifted uncomfortably in my large dark-blue knee-length skirt as I shifted across the car-park, The Skirt had been apart of my old Islamic School uniform. I had nothing else to wear seeing as Auntie Farah had decided to sleep in on the Saturday we had decided to go out shopping, But oh well at least Public-schools in America were allowed to wear what they please.
"Amina Anwar?", Said the lady at the reception desk peering down at the sheet of paper with my name on it and pronouncing My name as If I had been named the hardest name In the world with only 4 words."Yes,Over Here!", I said quietly walking over to the desk.
The desk lady had scrunched up her face into one ugly dirty look and began narrowing her eyebrows, at one point I felt like looking behind my shoulder and checking if she had seen something uglier than her face had looked. "Do not say today, what you will regret tomorrow!" The saying I had been reading yesterday had almost popped into my head as If it knew my situation. I waited a while for the lady to finish her ugly face competition (she was obviously winning) "I..I... Urm your class is down the corridor and the 2nd room down!", She said stuttering with shock and began clearing her throat.
At last I had found class 2AB- History with Mr.Carter, before I pushed open the door I had peered down at my hijab dusted it off and began seeing If I had any dirt worth peering at. "All clean!",I muttered silently and knocked on the door then pushed it open after a loud voice boomed "Come In!". I stood awkwardly at the back of the class waiting for Mr whatshisname to finish preaching, after finally noticing my existence at the back of his class. Mr.Carter and a sea of new faces peered up at me simultaneously and then looked down at my attire and back up at my hijab, "Aminaa, Is it?!",He asked after a brief silence, there were a few giggles across the class as he extended my name to now 2 a's raising both his eye-brows then relaxing them again after he realized that his way of making fun of my name had gone done a treat with his class. "Err yeah..?",I said finding my voice and rolling my eyes at him, It was typical of teachers to embarrass new students (especially innocent Muslim ones!)
"Well Miss.Amina Attitude! You certainly wont be sitting at the back with the other Attitude troubled ones, Take a seat next to....",He said pausing looking around the room."Please don't place me next to a boy, please don't, please don't!",I said chanting it over and over again in my head."Walid, I'm sure you'll have lots in common!",Mr.Carter said with a false small and began pointing at an empty seat towards the front row. "Damn It!",I muttered quietly to myself.I could feel the table creaking as if heavy weight had been lifted of it, I looked over my shoulder at Walid and saw him narrow his eyebrows in confusion then study my face."Did you regret something?",He said pursing his lips as if to continue speaking but stopping and instead beginning to strengthen his strong jaw-line. "No, I have not regret anything, well yeah the fact that I have missed breakfast.. but no not anything extreme?!",I said peering at him in confusion then smiling at him when he relaxed his eye-brows and then returning a small smile.
"Okay,It's just you said 'Damn It!' and I thought you had either hurt yourself or forgotten something and well it's just I've ne- Sorry, Am I being nosy?!", He said getting pinked cheek and smiling broadly exposing a dimple in his left cheek. I never thought I'd notice a boy this much before and not only did I physically notice this boy but he was different, somehow his face had this natural softness with it and his skin light with... whats the word p-pur-PURITY that's It!
"That's alright, I guess you'll find me nosy too but can I ask you a question.. well when I say question I mean 2?!", I said smiling. "Sure ask away",He said nodding and sitting up straight giving me his full attention. "Okay 1st question:Are you Muslim and 2nd Question:Where are you from?!" .......
