We all know that feeling. Y'know, the feeling. The feeling you feel when there's such a strong connection between you and another person. That person you can just stare at for hours at a time and never get bored of the way their eyes sparkle, or the way their smile just lights up the room? That person you'd like to hold in your arms and never let go? That person that makes your heart warm and your day better? Yeah, I don't have that person. Honestly, I don't get it. What's the big deal with this whole "love" thing? "Love". It's a weird word.

Origin of the Word "Love": Comes from the Middle English word luf, derived from the Old English word "lufu." This is akin to Old High German, "luba," and another Old English word, lēof, which means 'dear'.

Definition: An intense feeling of deep affection.

"Can you use it in a sentence?"

She was the love of his life.

Yeah, well saying "was" kind of defeats the purpose of that entire phrase. If she was the love of his life, it wouldn't be a "was" situation. Change the word to "is", and you've got a different story.

She is the love of his life.

Okay, slightly better, but really? Love of his life? Now, maybe I'm being too judgemental too quickly. Maybe he values her more than his own life (which is stupid, but whatever). What about her, though? Perhaps she doesn't feel the same, or at least not to that extent. If he's not the love of her life, she can't be the love of his life.

She is the love of his life, but the circumstances may not be the same for both sides of the relationship, therefore making this completely irrelevant.

There. Now we're getting somewhere.
