This one is kinda sad, and not as long.
I was over thinking some of the events from earlier, outside my cell.
Lori had pulled me aside, and told me what she really thought of me, my late brother, and my skill set. I was informed that I don't deserve a spot in this family. It was very clear how useless I was in her eyes. She told me that my brother deserved what happened to him and that it would soon happen to me. She said we were nothing more than redneck pond scum. she then proceeded to stress the fact that I would be dead soon, whether it be from the smarts of the group or from the stupidity of myself. "I would rather you dead than be around my children," she had said. I don't know what I did to deserve that, but it seems she really doesn't like me. She quickly walked away after Daryl and Rick walked into the cell block.
As I was sitting there when someone came and stood beside me. It was Carl.
" Yes, Carl?" I asked, eyebrows furrowed. I know his mom is a bitch but that doesn't mean I can take it out on the poor kid.
"I heard what My mom said earlier. I think she was right. I mean You are pretty useless."
Not really sure I wanted to believe him I asked, "Is that what you really believe?"
"Yes." He replies simply.
"Well, I appreciate your honesty but maybe you shouldn't judge off of everything your mom says. If you were to ask Beth, you would know my brother got bit, saving her. And it seems your mom forgot that I risked my ass to save her's."
I got up and went to my cell. I started putting what little I had back into the backpack I had carried around. I strapped my knife and gun holsters on around my waist and turned around to face the doorway. I was about to leave, only problem was, I was being blocked.
Daryl Dixon stood in the doorway, arms crossed, analyzing my moves. I stared at him for a few seconds before sighing and shaking my head.
"I heard what Carl said," he said. I looked down, "You don't have to leave because of him ya' know. No one else thinks of you in any way close to that," he says.
"What do you mean?" I question, wondering about how they really see me.
"I mean, Beth admires you, Carol sees you as a daughter, Maggie and Glenn see you as a sibling, Rick and Herschel think your skills and strength is great. Nobody but the Lori and her snotty nosed kid think of you any less than family." He finished, looking up at me when he was done.
Almost in tears I asked, "and what do you think of me?"
His eyes widened a little and he hesitates with an answer.
"You are loved and valued here, ya' don't have to leave."
"That has nothing to do with what I asked Daryl," I smiled sadly at him, "You don't have to answer though, you're not even obliged to talk to me. Hell, I wouldn't talk to me. See ya' D-"
"I care for you very much...much more than you will ever know," he interrupted. I looked at him surprised, his face had gone red and he was looking away.
"I think i'll stick around a little longer then, What do think Dixon?"
