Be warned. This is quite long. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever create one (unless it's an imagine) short.
Rick decided that was going to go on runs from mow on. Daryl wasn't too happy about that, but there is nothing he can do about it. Maggie and Glenn couldn't make the trip, but Daryl was determined to go. That left me to accompany Daryl on my own, not that I'm complaining.
I seem to have developed quite the liking towards Daryl. So this opportunity should be a great thing for me right? Wrong. Not only does Daryl not like me in his company, but there is also a storm coming in. I can feel it. It's hot and sticky outside, it smells like it's is going to rain, and the leaves on the trees are turned up. All of which are signs that it is going to rain, and by the looks of it, it'll be a thunderstorm.
Why is that bad you ask? I am completely terrified of thunder. And knowing that lightning leads to thunder, I'm not too fond if it either. Don't get me wrong, I love rain and mud, smell, and lighting that comes afterwords, but loud noises bother me. They always have.
"Daryl, we probably shouldn't be out for too long. It's going to storm and it's dangerous to drive in storms." I tried.
"We'll be fine, if you don't want to go because you're too worried, you can stay here."
"That seems a little counter intuitive. I mean, if you go out there in the storm alone then i'll be left her to worry about you. Which means i'll just be worrying more, so that's not the best plan of action." I countered.
"Then get in the car, we're leaving." He shot back.
We drove to a small town about 30 minutes away. His reasoning was that we had already gone to the nearby towns, "What's a lil' furthur?" he asks. Since we went in the opposite direction of the storm, it took it a while longer to get to us. We had already been through a pharmacy and a small gas station. We had just finished up a general store when I heard thunder in the distance.
"Daryl, we should get home."
"Why? It's just a lil' rain cloud. It ain't gonna hurt ya'."
I flinched as lightning lit up the room.
"Fine, but were are staying in here. The thunder will attract the Walkers. It's not safe to be outside."
I don't exactly want my crush finding out that i'm a complete baby when it comes to storms. Not that I have a a choice now. He kept pushing that we went outside to another store or that we get to the car. Every time he would bring it up I would argue my case, being adamantly against it.
"What the hell is wrong with you? I have never seen you this worked up." Daryl sighed looking straight at me. Unluckily for me, Mr. Thunder decided that is was the perfect time to make himself known. I jolted at the noise and clenched my jaw, eyes, and fists shut. I started to freak out just a little; I was breathing heavily, wanting it to go away.
"You're scared of the storm?" Daryl asked as I made noises of protest at the sound of the wind and rain hitting the building harshly. I nodded, and started trembling when the thunder got louder. "Why didn't you tell me before we left, you could've stayed behind."
"That's just it, if I were to stay behind, and you were here by yourself i'd be more worried. Not only would i be scar-" I flinched as thunder rumbled around us. With all of the noise, I cowered back.
"Okay, okay. It's okay. You'll be fine." Daryl comforted. He hesitantly inched forward, and wrapped his arms around my trembling body. "Just breathe."
As another flash of lightning lit the room, I whimpered and hid my eyes in his jacket. He just tightened his arms and awkwardly rubbed my back. "shhhh..." he sat down against the wall and that's were we stayed for long time.
"Thank you, Daryl," I said softly.
