Shawn's POV
"Wow" is all I thought when I saw her. She is really beautiful. Her smile could kill. She sounds like a nice girl. I feel like I can trust her but first I need to get to know her.

She finally broke the silence after almost 10 seconds of admiring eachother's facial features. "so, how do you like it here?" "It's like a home. You know?" "yeah." she said with a sad face. "Don't worry. I'll help you feel at home" "thanks" she chuckles.

"so what school are you going to?" "Pine Ridge. I'm entering 10th grade and I'm a little nervous" "oh, same school, same grade. Maybe I can keep you company?"

I was worried about what she was going to respond to that.

"Okay" she says while she is back at it with that smile. I can't resist it.

I told her about last year. "I'm sorry" "It was actually my fault I had no friends. I would always reject them. No need to feel sorry for me" "hey, maybe 10th grade will be your year" That actually cheered me up a little. It felt good to actually talk to someone other than my sister or my parents. Yet again, I'm worried about what people at school would think of me if they see me hanging with a girl, a pretty one in fact.

Gabby's POV
His voice.. It's so angelic. I'm happy that I already have a friend in town. The best part is that we're neighbors so I don't have to walk home by myself anymore.

I feel bad for what he had to go through last year. This year will be his year, I can tell.

"I really wanna get to know you" he tells me with a smile on his face. "Me too" I smile back at him.

I think I like him. As a friend of course.

"It's getting late. Uhh... talk tomorrow?" he says as another smile creeps up on his face. I don't really mind it though. It's like a unique smile. Something I've never seen before.

"Friends?" "Friends!" "great.." he says. Every word that comes out of his mouth makes me love his voice even more.

I watch him leave and even the way he walks is attractive.

I turn around and see my mom standing by the door.

"I see you made a new friend" "I did, mom. I wonder how you know" "I heard half of the convo and I didn't know what it was so I came to check"

"Okay, but you gotta stop sneaking up on me like that" I chuckle "I can't help it" she says.

"That one guy you were talking to a few minutes ago, he has really nice hair. "You think so?" "I know so" "I agree..."

----------------------------

Saturday morning

I woke up to several knocks on my window. I looked through the curtain and I see Shawn throwing pinecones.

"Good morning!"

"Good morning, Shawn" I say as I am still a little tired.

"what are you doing by my window?" "I was just checking in. Sorry if I woke you." "it's ok"

"Are you coming out?!" Shawn screams at my window as I if can't hear him. "Yeah, just a sec" "mom, I'm going out real quick!" "ok! Be careful!" my mom can be over protective at times, like my dad.

I grab something simple to wear and do my hair before heading  downstairs.

As soon as I open the door Shawn is already standing on the porch.

I close the door and I take a quick glare at Shawn. He is wearing pjs.

Shawn's POV
Gabby was looking at me as if I was crazy. "In my hometown, we can wear whatever we want without getting judged so I don't care, haha." "so should I go change to my pjs too?" she chuckles as her thumb is pointing back at the door. "No.. You look great" I compliment her causing her to smile. "You too" she says. I feel something in my stomach. I've never felt this before.

"Follow me" I tell her as I head to the side walk. We are going on a walk and we are going to communicate and give facts about ourselves. Just to get to know each other a little better.

After 10 minutes of walking, I realize how interesting she really is and what kinds of things she likes to do. Her past seems a little rough though.

We seem to have a lot in common. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.
