Christina's P.O.V
The words repeat in my head. 'Your the kids only hope.'
The man was talking about Will. Ben's operating on him right now and I know it. My eye fill with tears as I picture Wills small, limp body lying on the operating table. There's nothing I can do to help him.
Suddenly, someone knocks on the door.
"Come in," I sigh.
Then to my surprise Tris and Four walk in. I want to jump up and run to hug Tris but I obviously can't because of that dumb still syndrome. Tris walks over to me with Four at her side.
"Hey, Christina," Tris says.
"Hey," I say, weakly.
"You didn't jump up when we came in," Tris points out.
"Couldn't," I say, plainly. "They gave me something they called still syndrome."
"Why?" Four asks before he finds the answer.
"What happened?" Four asks, looking at my shins.
"I slammed my shins on the sharp edge of the train when I jumped on it with Will." I explained. Then I wince; talking about it brings back the pain.
Four doesn't seem to notice and keeps talking, "You jumped on the train carrying Will!?" He sounds impressed. Once an instructor always an instructor.
"Yup!" I say, ignoring the pain.
"Wait, why were you carrying him?!" Four asks, his dark eyes suddenly soft and concerned. I've never seen him this way before. I remember his eyes filled anger after I gave up in my fight against Molly. He'd walked me and the group to the cliff with a ragging river below it ready to let me dangle of the cliff for what felt like forever with the fear of falling to my death overwhelming me. The look in his eyes right now is truly the opposite of anger.
The smile that was starting to show up fades from my face and my eyes fill with tears. "Will was shot!" I sob. "He's in surgery now!"
"Oh God!" Four shouts.
Tris rubs my back as I sob, whispering reassuring words and trying to hide from me that her voice is shaking, trying to be strong for me, "He'll make it," I hear her whisper. "It's okay." I try to believe what she tells me but I'm so worried for Will and it's hard.
