The dark engulfed me completely, encapsulating me in its sadistic embrace. It left me blinded by fear, gnawing on my heart in painful aches.

Another crack of thunder resounded from outside and i let out a shriek, tears streaming down my face in rivulets. My body was shaking as i tried to focus on anything but this nightmare I was living.

" Please. Please. Please stop." I chanted, rocking myself in an attempt to comfort my own mentality.

Suddenly, the door burst open and light streamed in through the gaping space, scattering the darkness, reducing it to terrorize only the corners of the room.

I looked up and saw a male silhouette standing at the doorway and relief flooded through me with no restraint.

" Fucking hell, Lexi." I heard, before a sob of relief escaped me and a pair of arms circled around my waist. I felt a warm hand sift through my hair comfortingly. My shaking, fragile form was gently rocked as Roman wrapped me securely in his arms.

" I was so scared." My voice cracked at the end, my throat raw from crying out.

" I know, baby, I know. " Roman squeezed me reassuringly, softly pressing a kiss to my head.  " You're alright, Lexi. You're ok."

My grip on his shirt loosened as I began to have control over my breathing, the cries reduced to small hiccups.

" Are you ok now, Princess? " Roman asked, pulling away a little to look down at me, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. I meekly nodded my head against his chest, my eyelids already quite swollen and puffy.

" Come on, let's get you home." Roman said before carrying me up bridal style out of the dark room. My arms wrapped around him and my face buried at the nape of his neck, praying no one would be able to see my red, tear streaked face.

The party was still going out full swing and the music played louder than ever, as the vibrations rocked the ground with every beat.

As Roman weaved his way through the crowd, i could feel the stares of onlookers as we passed them. I tightened my grip around him and he held me closer in return before a gust of wind greeted us, indicating that we were outside.

" Princess, I have to go get the car, ok?" Roman gently set me down, his eyes watching me like a hawk, fearing i would break down at any moment and I honestly feared I would as another crack of thunder made me flinch.

The rain was now dripping in large, fat droplets down Roman's leather clad back.
My heart was starting to race as fear creeped back into my heart, the recent events yet to be cleared from memory.

I wrapped my arms around myself in a death grip, shutting my eyes to block my senses before i felt 2 warm hands place themselves over my ears.

I slowly opened my eyes to see Roman, his face leveled with mine as he slightly bent down. His eyes were searching mine and he smiled reassuringly. Removing his hands, he said "Don't be scared, baby." His voice was soft against the pouring rain.

"Remember what i taught you? Thunder can't get you, Lexi."

Fragmented pieces of memory began to drift through my mind as a young Roman crouched in front of a 6 year old Lexi, his hands warm against her shivering frame.

" Just cover your ears and count to 10, alright? I'll be right back!"

Nodding my head, I watched him jog over to the car parked a few houses away, the rain already drenching him. Placing my hands back on my ears, I blocked out the noise by humming a random tune to myself. My heart slowing down its assault on my chest.
