About a day or two after the chaos in the hospital died down I found out that a lady stayed back. She started helping me with taking care of my dad, not too long after that I left the hospital. I went to see if there were any survivors left here. After a while I bumped into this man and his son, the first thing they did was point their weapons at me. "Who are you?" I raised my hands to show I wasn't a threat. "My name's (Y/N), I don't want any trouble."

"Why are you by yourself? You're not with anyone?" I shook my head, "No, other than my dad, but he's in the hospital." He looked to me and lowered his weapon a bit, "Do you want to join us? We're hunkered down at a house not too far from here, there's room for one more." I nodded, "Yes, thank you."

For the next month or so i stayed with them. I met Morgan's wife before she fell to the fever and turned. From then I made sure to help them go out and get supplies and made sure to visit my dad and the woman taking care of him in the hospital. Today Morgan, Duane, and I went out to get supplies and after a bit of scavenging I went to check on my dad in the hospital. When I got there I went straight to his room. As I got closer to the room I noticed the door was open and the hospital bed was moved. I started freaking out thinking something got in, I ran to the door and peeked in not finding anything or anyone. Not even my dad. "What the hell happened in here? Where the hell is he?"

I left the room and started looking around the hospital for him. After looking around the hospital I decided to leave and go look around town. I was near a park when I heard a gunshot. I stayed there as I waited thinking about who could have made the shot, finally realizing how loud it was, "Damn, no matter who it was there's gonna be walkers all over the place." I sighed as I started back on my trek to find my dad. "Let's hope he doesn't try to talk to any walkers. I wonder if Morgan and Duane found him." I stopped and thought about it, probably not. Sooner than I thought night came and there were many walkers in the street.

I go in a house and closed the door, making sure there's no walkers in it. I barricaded the door with a dresser and went upstairs to a room. The room was clear as I walked in so I went to sleep with the door locked.

When morning came, I got my stuff and went out the window onto the roof. I jogged to where Morgan was hunkered down, and saw them coming out with a new dude. The new guy had a face mask on and killed a walker then fell to the ground holding his side. "Hey Morgan! Who's the new guy? Is he okay?"

He looked at me then nodded, "Yeah, he's okay. We found him yesterday wandering around, has a gunshot wound on his side." A gunshot wound? I heard the shuffling of fabric as the man moved then I heard his voice whisper, "(Y/N)?" I grew confused, how does he know my name? I started turning towards him "How do you- Dad?" The confusion changed to shock, "What are you doing here? Why did you leave the hospital? I was freaking out when you weren't there yesterday!" He stood up and hugged me to him, "I thought you were gone, I went to the house and nobody was there. Where's your mom and Carl? Are they here to?" I sighed and shook my head, "I was visiting you in the hospital when everything happened. So I don't know what happened to them."

He sighed before turning to Morgan, "Come on, let's get going." Morgan nods as we head to our house. "They're alive, my wife and son. At least they were when they left." Morgan looked at him incredulously, "How can you know? By the looks of this place-" Dad interrupted as he wandered around the house, "I found empty drawers in the bedroom. They packed some clothes. Not a lot, but enough to travel." Morgan looked at him dumbfounded, "You know anybody could've broken in here and stolen clothes, right?"

My dad shook his head as he gestured to the walls, "You see the framed photos on the walls?" I looked around and noticed they were all gone. "Neither do I. Some random thief took those too, you think? My photo albums, family pictures, all gone." Morgan looked around before chuckling sadly, sounding like he was crying.

"Photo albums... My wife, same thing... H-here I am, packing survival gear, and she's... grabbing photo albums." It was at this point Duane decided to speak up, "They're in Atlanta, I'll bet." Morgan nodded, "That's right." Dad looked confused as he looked towards them, "Why there?"

"Refugee center. Huge one they said, before the broadcast stopped." I piped in as Morgan continued, "Military protection, food, shelter... They told people to go there. Said to be safe."

"Plus they got that disease place." Duane chided and Morgan nodded, "Center for disease control. Said they were working on how to solve this thing." My dad nodded before grabbing a pair of keys and leading us out.

~Time Skip to the Police Station~

We all walked into the station and walked towards the locker rooms. I walked to the one they designated for women and took a shower. It felt good to take a hot shower after so long, I got out then got dressed and headed to where I heard my dad and Morgan. I waited outside of the locker room until they came outside with bags of guns and ammo.

"You know how to shoot a gun?" Rick asked as he turned to me, I nodded my head and showed him the gun I had. "Got it from the safe at the house." He nodded as we all walked out the back to the cars. Rick then turned to Morgan and gave him some advice as Morgan did the same. My dad handed Morgan a walkie talkie as I heard him tell him when he'll be on.

"Look, just one more thing. They may not seem like much one at a time... but in a group all riled up and hungry.. You better watch your ass."

"You too." We said our farewells as I gave Morgan and Duane a hug, "I'll see you soon, (Y/N), be sure to take care of your old man." I nodded and headed to the car but stopped as i saw a walker walking up to the gate.

"Leon Basset?" I turned and saw my dad slowly walking towards him. "Didn't think much of him. Careless and dumb, but... can't leave him like this."

"You know they'll hear the shot."

"Then let's not be here when they show up." Duane and Morgan went to their car as my dad went up to the gate. I looked at him for a bit before getting into the car and hearing the gunshot. He came back and got in the car; driving off.
