"You have eyes like your mother." I coo at my 5 year old daughter, Kaitlin. It's true, she has crystal blue eyes.
"Where is mama?" She asks and my heart breaks. I haven't seen her since she left when Kaitlin was only a baby.
"Mama, mamas out." I lie, swallowing the lump in my throat. I hate lying to Kat, but what was I meant to tell her?
'Oh she left when you were little and you'll probably never see her again.'? No way I'm telling that to her.
"When will she be back?"
"Soon."
