Chapter One: Five
Five teens raced down the busy street.
This busy street, is one of the many in the city of Lylat. Lylat resembles New York City, with gigantic skyscrapers and concrete canyons.
The city had now become a corrupt and crime-ridden city, but like everything else, has a heart and soul.
Five boys, each one sixteen, hurried down to the arcade at the street's corner. The five boys had known each other since they were in diapers, and it was a tradition to come to the arcade everyday after school.
One of the boys, a lean and tall, sandy-brown haired individual stopped in front of the arcade. The boy's name was Spencer, and he peered through the arcade's front windows.
He saw a girl, a pretty one. A girl with hazel-colored hair, big brown eyes, and a glistening smile. Spencer found it hard not to stare.
"Hey man, keep it in your pants!", snickered a short, brown-haired individual by the name of Dave. Dave was a skinny, small, and friendly kid, but sometimes he had problems shuting his mouth.
The other boys snickered and laughed at the remark. A round lad by the name of Napoleon made a hyena laugh and fell to the floor. The other two boys, a quiet and long-haired boy by the name of Shawn, and a black-haired individual by the name of Mark, walked inside the arcade.
The five boys spent their time playing classics like Pac-Man and Galaga together. They ate pizza and checked out girls. Spencer found himself staring at the hazel-haired girl.
The five boys were like brothers, and they had an incredible bond. Nothing could bring them apart. Spencer, Dave, Napoleon, Shawn, and Mark were the best of friends. Like five peas in a pod. The day was coming to an end, and the boys would soon make their way home.

At an alleyway behind the arcade, two thugs were conversing. "The boss has a job for us.", said one, a tall, strong, African-American. The other, a lean Hispanic sipped a bottle of whiskey and said,"Yeah? What is it?" The African-American's name was John, and he smiled and said, "We have to send a message to the cops Paco. We have to show we mean business. This city's corrupt man. We gotta show who runs this place." The Hispanic, Paco, took another sip, smiled, and said, "What do you wanna do?"
John laughed and said, "It's simple... We kill some poor souls, and send what's left to the cops."
Paco laughed, "Ha! Then the cops and all the people in this city will know that the 'Downside Dragons' rule this place!" He then took another sip.
The two thugs belonged to a gang called the "Downside Dragons", the main crime syndicate spanning throughout the corrupt city of Lylat. They patiently waited for their victims outside the arcade.
Five boys stepped out of the arcade, but five boys didn't make it home.
