Raven~
I stumbled into the room after Lance, watching King Rowan with eyes that probably were the size of saucers. Lance approached the throne with long striding steps. He dipped his head to the king and said something. Rowan's head turned to me and my blood froze, I was actually staring at the king himself!
Admittedly he is not how I imagined him, yet then again I have a very active imagination. Rowan looked like he had been through many wars, he wore nice clothes, much nicer than the moccasins I have on now. His bright green eyes scrutinized me, like I was something he didn't like, his messy black hair fell into his eyes when he moved and on top of his head was the crown. Adorned by fabulous jewels and pearls. It was beautiful.
Lance cleared his throat from his place beside the throne, "Sir?" He asked.
"I think she'll make a good addition here in the palace," Rowan replied looking back at the general, I could hardly contain myself. "What is your name?" Rowan asked, turning back to face me. I approached the throne and bowed, like I was taught to do with royalty.
"My name is Raven, your majesty." I said confidently. Rowan smiled slightly, as if pleased by my confidence.
"Raven. Not a common name." The king commented, I shrugged in return.
"Well Raven, I'll have our staff show you to your new quarters. You can start tomorrow." He said seeming bored with the conversation already.
"Sir?" Lance asked stepping forward to look at the king. "It's time to go." He said seriously, Rowan nodded.
"It was wonderful to meet you, Raven, ill see you around." Rowan said standing, with a nod of my head I backed away from the throne and watched him and Lance exit the way we had come.
Hours later I was exploring the city once more, the room I was in I shared with another maid, her name was Ilene. She said that before work I could go explore, I was fine with that I still haven't seen all of the city.
I couldn't decide what to do so I headed down to the market, there people moved about. I watched a shop keeper haggle with a customer about buying vegetables, it was quite amusing. After exploring the market I went and sat under the shade of a tree and opened my book, I always kept it with me just in case. I was reading about the history of the castle when I heard voices, I looked around realizing most of the market had cleared up and there was only a few people left.
Thinking nothing of it I continued reading. Then I heard more voices joining the first, I put down my book just as a woman walked past. She was tall with a light grey hair, though she didn't look that old. She reminded me slightly of a elf, she has slightly pointed ears and a slender figure.
I watched her for a second she paused and turned, listening for.. something I couldn't hear. Suddenly she broke off into a sprint. I watched her wonder what was going on when suddenly, four wolves ran past, all of them barking and running for the woman who had disappeared. I watched with wide eyes as they disappeared, perhaps it was time to go back. I began walking back the way I had come when I heard noises behind me.
"Hey you!" I froze and turned seeing a small man flanked by three wolves all growling, they seemed mad. The man approached, the wolves stayed back, "did you see where that woman went?" He asked, I shook my head no. The wolves behind him snorted something and I looked past him to them, they were all bigger than a normal wolf, it was an amazing sight.
"Ignore them," the man huffed. "Newbies in the WolfGuard, and a pain in the butt they are!" He raised his voice so the wolves could hear. I held back a laugh.
"I'm sorry but I didn't see anything." I said quickly, I turned and left for the night heading back to the castle and to my room where Ilene sat folding her clothes.
"You look like you just saw a dragon." She commented, I nodded with a smile.
"It was smaller than a dragon. But they were cool."
"They? Oh you met members of the WolfGuard didn't you?" She asked like it was all clear now. I nodded.
The morning came sooner than I thought it would. Ilene was already up and getting ready for the day, "anything I should know about the job?" I asked getting up.
"You probably won't stop working all day." She responded, I nodded that seemed about right. I finished getting ready and sat back down on the small cot that was my bed. I couldn't believe I was already here. It was all so shocking.
"It's time to go." Ilene breathed heading for the door. I got up and followed taking a deep breath and heading into the hallway.
