'Some say the world will end in fire. Some say in ice. But for me...the world will end in acid," Harley thought as she descended into the vat of acid below.

The contact with the acid felt like bricks, and Harley couldn't scream. Couldn't move. Only sink, deeper and deeper into the green abyss. She felt herself growing groggier as she sank farther into the thick liquid. Eventually, she couldn't feel anything. Anything but the immense burning of the acid like chemical tearing away at her piece by piece.

Harley wasn't sure whether the Joker was going to come get her or leave to melt away, but she honestly hoped she hadn't thrown away her life just to be left to die like this.

This was Harley's final thought as her world was enveloped in darkness.

Three stories above the vat that was possibly going to claim Harley's life, stood the Joker. Clad in a red button up shirt and black pants, he stood stone still watching the events unfold below with nothing more than a cold smirk on his face. Joker turned away from the vats and began to walk away, back toward his car.

Suddenly, the Joker was wracked by a feeling. It wasn't something he ever felt. But something tied him to Harley and he knew he could no longer ignore it. Joker growled, the realization coming to him. He turned back, loosening his shirt and dove straight down into the same vat that Harley was in.

The chemicals bit at his already pale skin. He dove farther down and finally reached Harley. Joker grasped her arm and pulled, dragging her to the surface. When he came up to the surface, Joker's red shirt bled into the water and he noticed the blue from Harley's own shirt was bleeding as well.

Harley remained unconscious even after Joker had brought her back to the breathable air. Joker crushed his lips against Harley's. When he came up from the kiss, Harley gasped, her eyes shooting open.

Harley's first view was of the Joker. His red lip stick was smeared all over and Harley smiled from this imperfection. She still felt the chemical biting her skin and hair, draining all semblance of color from them.

Joker began to laugh and Harley became infected with it and began to laugh as well. They laughed hard, not at anything in particular, but just because they could. Joker carried Harley out of the vat and grabbed a lab outfit from one of the racks on the wall. Harley shakily stood as Joker wiped as much of the chemicals off her body that he could.

When Harley was mostly clean, she was scooped back up into the Joker's arms and carried out to the green Lamborghini that awaited them.

Harley slept most of the way back to the Joker's hideout, and she was forced awake when Joker grabbed her roughly by the waist and put her over his shoulder.

Harley giggled, "ya know, Mistah J, I can stand now, I think."
Joker huffed angrily. "Yea, I know, but I'm not about to have you track acid all over the god damn house that cost me millions to produce in a secret location with all the necessary precautions against Batsy."
"Batsy, Batsy, Batsy," Harley cooed as she continued to be carried by Joker.

Harley was lugged all the way through the house and upstairs until finally she was set down in the shower. Joker set her down and Harley wobbled slightly. Joker momentarily tightened his grip on her to keep her upright. He let his hands linger on the small of Harley's back a little longer than he'd wanted.

Harley glanced up at Joker and smirked slightly. He never was gentle with her so this rare occurrence was somewhat of a treasure. Harley reached her pale arms up and laced them around Joker's neck and pulled him down into a kiss. It didn't last long as Joker quickly ended the kiss with a deep, menacing growl.
