"WHAT!?" they shouted "Our children have Greencough !"
"Can I stay the medicine cat den?" asked Dovewing.
"No" Jayfeather said sternly "You still have kits to take care of. Remember?"
"I know." she sighed. She walked back to the nursery where Cinderheart was already telling her kits where Dotkit was.
"Why can't Dotkit stay in the nursery with us?' Rainkit was asking
"Because Greencough is contagious , and I don't want more kits getting sick." Cinderheart said.
"Where's Spottedkit?" asked a voice behind her. I was Skykit, Spottedkit was her favorite of her siblings.
"With Jayfeather and Leafpool." Dovewing replied.
"Why?" Skykit sounded concerned.
"Because she has Whitecough."
"WHAT!?" Skykit exclaimed
"She'll be fine." Dovewing hoped that was true. "It's close to dawn you should get to sleep.
When her kits fell asleep next to her belly she heard Twanykit coughing her head off, but Squrrielflight didn't wake up so Dovewing diced to softly call her name. Squrrielflight slowly started to stir.
"What?" mumbled Squrrielflight, then she heard her daughter. "I need to get her to the medicine cat den! Can you watch my kits."
"Sure." Dovewing replied
When Squrrielflight got up from her nest and Branchkit mumbled "Where are you going?"
"I'll be right back, I promise." Squrrielflight said. Branchkit nodded. When squrrielflight got to Jayfeather she heard Spottedkit and Dotkit coughing alot. Jayfeather was crouching over them.
When he heard Squrrielflight and Twanykit
"What do you-" When he heard Twanykit he said to her, "Come lay down next to Dotkit and Spottedkit."....
Back at the apprentices's den...
"Stop coughing, you're waking up the whole clan," Fawnpaw was saying while Lightpaw was waking up from a fit of coughing.
"I don't feel well." Lightpaw said.
"Then go to Jayfeather you mouse-brain." Although there was a hint of teasing there was concern in her voice.
"Aright." Lightpaw agreed. Lightpaw walked over to the medicine cat den while in a coughing fit. Then she noticed Dovewing poked her head out of the nursery.
"Where are you going Lightpaw?" Dovewing asked.
"To the medicine cat *Cough* den, I don't feel *Cough* the best Dovewing."
Dovewing sounded worried "Alright sweetie, feel better."
Lightpaw walked away coughing and she let out a moan a feel backward. Jayfeather poked his head out of the den and ran to her. Lightpaw's flank was lifting up and down slowly. Darkpaw ran out of the apprentice's den and saw her sister lying on the floor.
"Go get Leafpool and help her carry the herbs she brings."
Darkpaw nodded ran off, a minute later she was back with Leafpool and a jaw-full of herbs. "Should I get Bumblestriep and Dovewing?"
"Yes" Replied Jayfeather without looking up from Lightpaw. Darkpaw went to get her parents. First she went to get Dovewing. Darkpaw went into the nursery.
"Mom?" she called
"Yes?" Dovewing replied sleepily.
"Something is wrong with Lightpaw."
"What?" Dovewing sat up fast "What happened?"
"When she was walking to the Medicine Den she stopped breathing normally. She wants you out there."
"Alright. I be there. Whitewing can you watch my kits?"
"OK." Whitewing said. Dovewing rushed out of nursery.
"Are you OK my baby?" Dovewing asked, Lightpaw shook her head.
"She has a fever." Leafpool said nervously.
"I'll go get Bumblestripe." Darkpaw rushed to the warriors den. She walked up to his nest. "Bumblestripe, Bumblestripe, wake up" she whipered.
"What are you doing here?" Bumblestripe asked
"It's Lightpaw she's sick. Follow me."
When they got out to where Lightpaw was Bumblestripe said "Lightpaw my sweetie are you OK?"
Darkpaw's always happy sister, who is always bright, said in a hoarsed "No, it is my time to join StarClan."
"You sound like an elder." Snowpaw said trying to lighten the mood, she just arrived when Bumblestripe.
"I know." Lightpaw smiled and closed her eyes. Her sides stop moving.
"NOOO!" Dovewing cried. Her kits ran out of the apprentice den and nursery.
"What happened?" chirped Moonkit
"Light *sob* Lightpaw d-died." sobbed Darkpaw. At that moment Briarlight rushed from the medicine den.
"I think the kits have Whitecough."
Now that Strikepaw strained his ears he could here three kits coughing. ALOT.
"MOMMY!" screamed the kits all at once. Squrrielflight and Cinderheart raced from the nursery to the medicine den
"What is it sweetie?" asked Cinderheart.
"I don't feel well.'' Dotkit answered
"Me too." Twanykit said
"Me three." added Spottedkit, "What if I die?"
"You won't, but if you do you will join Lightpaw." Dovewing convinced Spottedkit. As she said that Spottedkit threw up and her eyes started to close.
"You know when you said that I would see Lightpaw in StarClan..." Spottedkit started
"Yes..."
"I'm going to see her. I'm sorry mommy."
"Why is StarClan doing this to me. I lost two kits today
why?"
"Mommy, I think I'm going with Spottedkit." Said Dotkit
"Ok-k" stammered Cinderheart who ran into the warrior den and in a few seconds later she came out leaning on Lionblaze.
"Mommy I don't wanna leave you." Twanykit sobbed.
Squrrielflight put her tail around her kit. "I will join you in StarClan someday."
"You promise?"
"I promise." Twanykit leaned on her mother's leg and then feel limp.
Dovewing's family: Beaverpaw, Strikepaw, Snowpaw, Darkpaw, Skykit, Moonkit and Sunkit. All curled up together sleeping next to Spottedkit and Lightpaw in the clearing with Bumblestripe's tail wrapped around her sholders.
