So many weeks went by... months even. It's amazing what good focusing on yourself can bring. I was happier and everyone saw it. I wasn't upset anymore and things were looking up. This school year went by so quickly, I couldn't believe it. I couldn't wait to be a Senior in a few months.
Mack and Kayla were dating now and they were such a cute couple... but thank God they weren't so lovey-dovey in front of the rest of us. Especially as Jerome threatened that we'd disown them if they were like that. Them getting into a relationship and starting the summer in love made me think of what it was like to have been in love before...
"Stop thinking" Kayla didn't even have to hesitate to know what went through my mind right now. We were in the park after school on Friday, sitting on the bench under the 5 o'clock sun. It was Mack, Kayla and I on the bench and they both sat opposite me while the others were at the ice cream truck buying some desserts for us all. "About what?" I said innocently but she always saw right through me. "Looking at me and Mack.. it's made you think about Diggy, right?" she asked and I nodded. "Well stop it" Mack joined in. "You're happy now, you don't need him" he said as he wrapped his arm around Kayla's shoulder. "But I see how happy you guys are and I remember how happy I was.." I admitted. "There's like, billions of people in this world and you got screwed over by one guy who was sneaking around with a Greek girl. Y/N, be real, you're better than that!" Kayla exclaimed as the others came back with ice creams and popsicles.
"Yeah..'" I said. She thought it was easy, but it isn't when you realise what you had and how badly it hurts to think about it. It was hard not to think about it. I was happy with Diggy. "But anyway... my parents are away on their anniversary for the week... so house party!" Kayla smiled. I smiled too. "We need this.. I can invite the whole football team..." Tristan almost got carried away. "Hey, you better pray they don't fuck up my house" Kayla warned and pointed at him and he smiled. "Don't worry, they be cool" he said. "Aite.. we need a plan to get alcohol and we need a plan, fast" Kayla got serious then we all got to talking...
"Party at my house, bring a bottle.." Kayla smiled as she passed out invitations to everyone at school. "Party at my house, bring a bottle..." she repeated it to every person we saw that she wanted at the party and handed them an invite as we walked down the halls. Everyone looked at the invite and got excited about the party. You could say that our group were somehow one of the popular groups at school now, so no wonder they got excited.
"What's this?" Alyssa approached us in the hall and took an invite from Marie's hands but Marie snatched it back before Alyssa could read the whole thing. "Party" Kayla smiled at her. "Hmph.. looks like it'll be shit.." Alyssa remarked. "Like your life?" Marie asked and tilted her head at Alyssa while we chuckled a little. "Sorry, was that not mean enough for you?" Marie asked her and began to get a little agitated at her presence. It was big school news that Alyssa's parents had kicked her out of their house. It was unknown to everyone but her why they did but we all knew her life wasn't so perfect after all. "Naw, Marie stop. We aren't bitches..." I said putting my hand on her arm and retaining my laughter. I stopped smiling when I looked behind Alyssa and saw Diggy walking towards us down the hall. "You're not invited.." Marie told her and we all walked away.
We all saw Diggy. I knew because Kayla and Marie both looked at me and then him. Diggy slowed down in his tracks and I did too because he was approaching me and blocking my path. "Catch you later Y/N.." Kayla said and walked off with Marie. "Hi..." Diggy spoke first and I didn't say anything. "You haven't spoken to me in what, months now" he said trying to look at me as I looked down. "Same to you.." "I tried apologizing" he said. "Several times but you didn't listen" "Would you? If I went back and slept with Jason during our break, would you accept my apology so fast?" I asked him, I now looked at him and now he couldn't look at me. "I thought so" I said. "I gotta go.." I tried to move past but he blocked my way, again. "Can we put this behind us and start over? I miss you Y/N. More than anything". I shrugged it off. "I don't know" "I know you still feel for me like how I feel for you" he said. "I gotta go" I repeated and moved past him and walked away as he watched me go.
