A/N: Forgive me. I wasn't able to post on Saturday. But, that's why they invented Sunday, right? Yeah... No. But, I was super sick, almost all week, and couldn't do much, but sleep. (wow, if you think about it, I was lucky...) So, I hope you'll enjoy this Sunday gift. :)
Then, He left, and my brother and I continued to stay in the room we were in. As we stood there for a while, I noticed something glowing, in the corner of my eye. As I turned around, I saw a shield, that matched the sword in my hand. I started to walk over to it, and my sword, started glowing as well.
Whenever I got closer to the shield, my sword would react to it, and light up, for some reason. "Hey Aaron, come over here. You've got to see this." I say, waving my hand, to get my brother's attention.
"What is it?" He asked, taking small steps towards me, and peeking around my body, to see what was there.
"I found a shield. It seems to match my sword."
"A shield?"
"Yeah."
"Here, let me take a look." Aaron walked over to the shield and picked it up. He placed his arm, in the straps on the shield, and the glow, grew stronger, than ever before. "W-what's going on?" Aaron asked. The light grew stronger, and stronger. Then, it started to burn his skin. So, Aaron threw the shield off of his arm, as fast as possible.
"Aaron, are you okay?" I asked looking at his arm.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"A-are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm pretty positive about it." He said, as he let out a sigh.
"Oh, alright..."
When I was done looking at the wound, on Aaron's arm, we suddenly heard a voice. It sounded almost like a monster. "Give me your strength. In return, I'll grant you, with incredible powers, beyond belief." We both looked all around the room, but had no sign, as to where the strange voice was coming from.
Then, in an instant, it all went pitch black. "Aaron? Aaron, where are you?" I asked, placing my hands in front of me, trying to feel for him. When I finally felt something, I felt relieved. But then, I saw red eyes, that were glowing. I felt the thing that was before me, and it wasn't human. But, those eyes filled my soul with hatred, making me loose control.
I had no sense of direction, anymore; everything was just a big maze to me. Then I let out a loud scream. I was frightened by this feeling, that was overwhelming me. The darkness around me, made it all the more worse. I continued to scream, until I had no more air, left inside of me. Tears were falling down my face, and I was gasping for air.
"What's the matter? Do you not want my power? I promise, it won't hurt, one bit, if you don't refuse. Come on, just let the power inside..." The voice kept saying this, in my ear. I was shaking, trying to make clear, of what was happening.
Then, I heard a faint scream, coming from a distance. It was Aaron. This monster, had gotten to him, as well. "Aaron!" I scream, running in the direction I heard him. "Aaron, where are you? Tell me!" I didn't hear him respond, but I could hear him continue to scream.
This feeling... Yes, it was hatred. I hated whoever was making my brother suffer this much.
But, that was only normal, right?
Why should I show any type of affection to them?
If someone was making me suffer, I should just do the same back, right?
"No... No, that's not how I'm supposed to think... But..."
"Calm down. You mustn't let this emotion inside, take hold of you. I know you. You are stronger than that. Stand up, and face the fear, and the hatred within. Darkness is not the way, you were meant to go to the light..." I hear Him say.
When I heard these calming words, I tightened the grip on my sword and started to run. I saw a light, due to the shield, sitting in the distance. I ran faster and faster, and saw the light, growing stronger and stronger. My legs grew tired, but it was worth it.
I eventually saw my brother, on the ground. "Aaron!" I scream. I run over to him, and wrap my arms around him. "I'm so glad you're okay."
But, this was not over yet. That demon was far from giving up. We still sat in the dark room. But, I wasn't going to sit there, and be quiet, either. So, I pull my arms away from Aaron, and pick up my sword, that was laying on the ground. "Hey, Aaron?"
"Yeah, what is it?" He asks.
"You see the shield?"
"Yeah... What about it?"
"Well I'm going to need a little help, from you."
"Just get to the point, already, Heather." I hear him say.
"Right. Well, I'm going to attack that thing, and whenever it strikes at either one of us, I need you to hold the shield up to it."
"But, why don't you just continually strike, at it, with the sword?"
"Well, it sounds simple but, that wouldn't be a smart idea."
"How come? It seems to make perfect sense to me."
"Well yes, in a way, that could work, but... This is different."
"How so?"
"If you deflect with that shield, the light, inside of it, will likely destroy the beast, because it isn't able to absorb the light." I say, "You get what I mean, now?"
"Yeah, I've got it." Aaron grabbed the shield, and placed it back onto his arm. But this time, it was causing no harm. In fact, the light from it, was actually helping him. So, he stood ready, for anything that the monster before us might throw our way. "I'm ready whenever you are."
"Right." I say. I took my sword, and aimed it at the beast. "Please, help us, and protect us. We need you to shield us, from danger. Just this one time." I whisper to myself.
I jumped up, and pulled my sword back, and swung. The energy inside, flew out from the sword, and hit the monster. "Aaron, now!" I yell.
Aaron took the shield, and held it, up to the monster. As it rammed into the shield, I noticed a small burn mark, appear. Then, while it was trying to get back to it's senses, I took my sword, and focused as much energy, as I possibly could. When I was finished, I ran towards it, took the sword, and swung down, as hard as I could. When the monster couldn't fight back the light anymore, it faded away.
"Thanks, Aaron." I say, as I walk back to him. "It really helped me out, a lot."
"Sure."
After the fight had ended, the darkness had also ended. Then, we saw Him appear, before us. "I know that was hard, for both of you. Fighting the temptation is not an easy battle. You fight your struggles, within. But, I will not allow you to fall. I will help you, and show you the way, to the light."
"Lord, thank you, for helping me... No, that's not right- us. I'm truly in your debt."
"I'm here to help you. Whenever you need someone to talk to, or a shoulder to cry on, I'll be there. I love you, so I promise, I won't leave you behind."
