Jimin's POV
"I'm cutting my mind off, feels like my heart is going to burst." - Panic! At The Disco, Death Of A Bachelor
Jimin had been living with Jeon Jungkook's name on his arm for only twelve hours, yet it felt more like twelve hundred. He had "borrowed" some of his mother's foundation from her makeup drawer to cover up the boy's name in case any of his friends decided to go Sherlock Holmes on him, but he was pretty sure if he played it off well enough nobody would suspect a thing about the true nature of "Mi Na" 's name on his arm. Still, he was so nervous, he could feel his heart's palpitations in the back of his skull. If anyone found out that he was gay...well, he didn't know what he'd do. Run away? Deny it? None of his options looked too attractive.
Hoisting his book-laden backpack onto his shoulders, he adjusted his appearance in the bathroom mirror before unlocking the front door and quietly slipping out of the house. The first birds of spring were just beginning to emerge from their nests, filling the cloud-free, sapphire blue sky with their own unique ballads. He tilted his head up to face the heavens, inhaling the scent of blooming wildflowers and rainwater that had pooled in shallow puddles around clogged storm drains. If everything else in his life was a mess right now, at least the weather was perfect.
"Oy, Jiminie! Over here!" He opened his almond-shaped eyes, focusing back on reality, and spotted his friends Hoseok and Namjoon waving him over from the opposite sidewalk. Slowly, he crossed the water-stained road, treasuring the pure sounds of bird calls and cool feeling of spring breeze washing over his skin as he went. Namjoon rolled his eyes at him, while Hoseok tapped his foot against the concrete impatiently. "Took you long enough," He huffed when Jimin's foot touched the abrupt curve of the sidewalk, then pulled him the rest of the way up by his backpack strings. "C'mon, show us!" Both boys leaned in expectantly; Jimin started to sweat as he realized that this would be the first trial of many for his forged name. Reluctantly, he pulled up his sweater sleeve to reveal the name of the fake girl who was supposed to be his "soulmate". Namjoon grabbed his wrist, analyzing the characters with intelligent dark eyes. They narrowed just a fraction, suspicion clouding his pupils, and Jimin felt his heart speed up. To his relief, however, Namjoon released his arm with an airy "Cool." Hobie, always the eager one, read the name and threw his arm around Jimin's shoulders. "Nice, dude, she sounds like a hottie." The shorter boy rolled his eyes. If only he knew, he thought to himself for what seemed like the thousandth time in half a day.
Jungkook's POV
"I knew who you were, before I even knew my own name." - RADWIMPS, Nandemonaiya
When he stepped through the heavy, metallic school doors, Jin and one of his other friends, Taehyung, were waiting for him with huge grins plastered on both of their pale faces.
"So, who's the lucky guy?" The others pestered him as they made their way down the boringly plain school hallway and into the library, where the trio usually met up with their mutual friend Min Yoongi at the start of every school day. Jungkook ignored their questions for a moment, partly to playfully spite them and partly because he was still caught up in his own little world over what had happened the previous day.
"Have you texted him yet?" That got his attention. The younger turned sharply to look at Taehyung, the boy who had spoken, who furrowed his eyebrows as if his reaction confused him. "You mean you haven't?" He raised them now, unbelieving.
"What, are you supposed to or something? Have you guys?" The younger asked, worried that already he had messed up a nonexistent relationship.
"Of course!" His friends answered in harmony. "Almost everybody does, it's practically custom!" That was Jin, his delicate features crinkled into a mischievous smile. "And to think that you weren't aware of it... Oh, we have so much to teach you about dating!" Both boys cackled evilly, and Jungkook had a inkling of an idea that their "lessons" might not be a hundred percent accurate.
